The answer is written a little higher in the comments, or, more simply, in the video. After Effect is a professional motion design / vfx / post production video software, it only exists for MacOS and Windows and requires a computer (laptop, desktop) and, more particularly, a workstation. The only way to have it on an iPad is to remote control your computer. No computer, no After Effect on iPad. It exists some Fisher Price motion design apps in the iOS store if you want to play, but if you want to be serious 5 minutes on the subject, you need at least After Effects (or Nuke, or Fusion, or Motion, or...) so you need a computer. And a strong one.

@@cxmie2801 in this video, it seems that the presenter uses the "sidecar" function integrated in MacOS. It's not really a "remote control" but instead, consider it like plugging a second monitor (and put After Effect on it). I'm trying it while typing this comment, and it's weird : the iPad Magic Keyboard works, the Apple Pencil works (as in the video), but the trackpad of the Magic Keyboard, or the touch screen with your finger ... don't work. You can use the pencil and make things in After Effect, but as I said in other comments, it's not very useful. The screen lags, the screen is VERY small (I use a 27" monitor for After Effect and lack of space) and you need the MacBook Pro to be in the same Wifi network. With a real remote control App, like Jump Desktop, you can have the screen of your Mac right in your iPad, the keyboard and the trackpad are functional, and you can do it wherever you want, even at the other side of the planet (but you need a good connection between your iPad and you Mac : 4G, 5G, fiber). I prefer that solution, as the iPad become a small and light device who accompanies you everywhere, every time, and can become you workstation if needed. As the 11" screen is really small, this solution is more helpful than useful

Whats the point to have both, it should be compatible on both devices without needing the other.

Cool, but I want to be able to use AE on my iPad when I’m at a friend’s house or something, where I’m not able to get to my computer. Adobe should come out with an iPad Creative Cloud that can sync with your computer so you can open up a project you’re working on at home when you’re at the library or something and work on it. Million dollar idea, Adobe!

Can we use after effects on ipad air?

I’ve got a MacBook Air 2017. I never update it because, I did that with another MacBook Pro I had. I couldn’t use my Adobe After Effects CC 2020 after the update and it stopped working. It’s been in the shop for years. Is it possible for me to use AAE on an iPad Pro IF only the iPad is updated and not the MacBook?

i downloaded super easy after effects, premier... for free for my PC. DOes someone knows if this is also possible with an Ipad Pro or there are antihacking controls or smthing like that? thank you!

That is not the 1st gen i pad pro, the first gen had a Touch ID home button and the classic iPad look with the bottom and top bezels bigger and the two side bezels thiner. Instead it is actually the 3rd gen from 2018 with Face ID and the new design with the thin bezels all the way round and most important no home button. And the new 4th gen released in March 2020 which is the one with the LIDAR sensor and a slightly upgraded processor from the 3rd generation along with new cusotmaisotn options that include more storage and more ram.

it's a misunderstanding : he wants to say "the first gen of iPad Pro with rounded corners" ... the iPad Pro 2018 to be precise, as the 2020 iPad Pro is the "second gen" of this design.

I tested all the remote control apps, and the best of the best is Jump Desktop. It works 100% (mouse, keyboard, shortcuts, etc) and it's blazing fast. With a Mac connected to Internet with fiber, and you iPad connected either to the same network (Wifi), either to internet with a fast speed (4G, 5G, Wifi + Fiber) you can have a very decent framerate (I've succed to have 60 fps) and work like if you are in front of your computer/workstation, but ... everywhere. That's a game changer.

How to download / buy after effect on iPad ?

I’m willing to get after effects but is it possible to install ae on the iPad Pro, if you get the magic keyboard and Apple Pencil could it count as a laptop

@@majopm2619 you can’t download it, you have to use Airplay on a macbook who have after and connect it to your ipad for edit your project it’s the only way to use after effect on ipad maybe one day they will create an app we can have from apple store (I hopee) if you don’t understand watch the video they explain better than me

It's decent. I've used it on Catalina and used an apple pen to rotoscope some hand-drawn lines. Overall the experience was frustrating and what I thought would be a faster workflow fell apart. The main issue I encountered was a lack of palm rejection which would cause me to zoom in and out of my editing window. Frustrating.

For mac, use sidecar. For windows, use duet display for free (but for ios, it’s $10 base app, $20/yr duet air subscription (wireless), and $30/yr duet pro subscription (wireless + apple pencil))

@@amyndiaye4225 as we are talking about screen extension (sidecar) or remote control, it works lots of iPad.... Either with SideCar (so you need an iPad and a Mac that can run sidecar, list on apple.com) either with a remote control app (and then even a 10y old iPad will work perfectly, but a keyboard and a trackpad are mandatory)
