    Hi Jeca. That's very helpful. I am struggling with one thing though. When I import the PSD into Afer Effects, the size of footage for each element is the size of entire canvas, not the size of the element that is drawn in one layer. It makes the maniputaion much more difficult because the anchor points that I use fo the manipulation of the object are much further away than the enges of the actual objects. Do you know why this happens and what can I do to sort it out? Thank you!

    Hey! Thank you very much for your great tutorial. :D I've been using Procreate for a while now, but never realized editing via After Effects actually works! Do you get in trouble with the rasterized images, as in.. when you rotate in Procreate, everything gets pixelated. Does this happen in After Effects too? And at what size do you start your canvas? Thank you very much! :D Your channel looks great!!!!

  • @jecamartinez

    Hi Illulon! I don't think pixelating happens in After Effects like in does in Procreate when you rotate objects, but because these objects are raster images (not vector), they will definitely decrease in quality if you scale it up. So I would suggest that the canvas of your Procreate file should at least be the same size that you want to export your video to. For my canvas, I usually use at least 1080p (1080x1080 if I want it square, 1920x1080 for landscape). I only end up using smaller canvases (1500 or 1200, etc) if I need more layers in my Procreate file, esp if I'm animating on it :) Hope that helps!

    this is EXACTLY what I needed! Thank you so much :) Also, what is your canvas size for your GIFS, and what are the settings you use to export the GIFS from After Effects?

  • @jecamartinez

    @jecamartinez

    Thank you! I usually work on a 1080px x 1080px, 144dpi canvas. I usually don't export as GIF files from After Effects (for some reason it doesn't work?), so I would export it as a video or image sequence from AE, import to Photoshop, and then export as a GIF from there :D

    Thanks I needed this. But isnt your art more blurry because of Photoshop? Is Illustrator not a better option because of the vector options which makes everything less blurry?

    If you make your photoshop/procreate file very large you can shrink it down in AE which won’t make it pixelate

    Is it easier to animate my procreate drawing in procreate or in after effects ?

  • @jecamartinez

    @jecamartinez

    3 жыл бұрын

    It would depend on what type of animation you'd like to make :D For this Mike Wazowski GIF I found it easier to do what I needed in After Effects. For Stickers with simpler movements like in my GIF Sticker tutorials, those are easier to do in Procreate. Then for frame by frame animation, I would animate those in Adobe Animate first, and then bring the frames in Procreate or Photoshop to colour them individually

    so basically all the animation part happens on Procreate , After Effects is just to put everything together
