This video is a Correction from our recent Video the Abrams Tanks. Some addational feedback from our Audience "Gregory Heim" The gunner's controls are formally named the Gunner's Powered Hand Station, but commonly referred to as a Cadillac because the first model was made by the Cadillac Gage company. "DannyZero69" 7:49 The airburst is intended against softskin vehicles like trucks and against infantry who would be showered with shrapnel from the burst 7:54 The point detonate delay mode is against lightly armored vehicles and fortified structures as the round could penetrate the armor/wall and detonate INSIDE the vehicle/building. "Dragoon Gryffoon" The Lancet drone is not made to destroy a Tank but only light vehicles such as Caesar howitzer. "Zack" The driver actually gets in through the turret most of the time because the hatch cannot be opened from the outside. Ever wonder why the turret is always pointed over the left rear of the tank when parked? There is a gate on the inside for the driver to slide through. And the T-bar used to steer it actually has a pin that can be pulled so the T-bar can come down to the driver for a more comfortable position. There is another round the Abrams shoots called a CAN round, I think I spelled it correctly. I never had to to spell it, I just loaded it haha. It is basically a shotgun shell with 1013 tungsten steel balls.

Thank you for crediting me ! Some fun facts about entering the driver's hole. Unless the hatch is combat locked there isn't a way to enter the driver hole other than the turret, the turret has to be put over the rear of the tank and there's a little swing door by the loaders legs which the driver slides into his position. Combat locking isnt usually done, I've done it a few times (The hatch is poped up and to keep the hatch from swinging open theres a little notch to stick a track link end connecter on which hols the hatch shut while its still popped up( end connectors are the links at both side of each link of track that connects them). Anyway actually appreciate the correction cheers!!

What are you talking about? even with what you describe at "combat locking", you can't get into the drivers' station. Only when the hatch is completely open can you get into it. And why use an end connector? you can just lock the hatch in the up position. It won't swing open until you grab the crank to open it. Former 19K30 with 4,000 miles of driving experience.

So were not gonna question the heat dampening materials used and the fact the exhaust is pointed into the ground underneath the tank. I mean it is still vulnerable to thermal scopes because of the tracks, barrel after firing, and if it is a hot day out. But I mean that's with basically every tank tbh. Also btw this ain't bad content by any means, its really damn well made and I enjoyed it a lot, it just caught my eye with the last little part about the engine.

Good video. 🙂Abrams would be more mobile with the Leo 2's 1500hp diesel as they produce far more torque than a gas turbine of equivalent hp. Heavy vehicles need torque not hp (diesels also start much faster). The Abram's gas turbine is a fuel guzzler, the first Gulf War had to be delayed solely to build up enough fuel stocks for the M1's. Leo 2 and M1 share the same hull and running gear, as well as the same German-made main armament. Trials were carried out with the M1 fitted with the MTU V12, but there has been no definite decision, unless somebody knows the real answer.

You dance up and down the gears constantly to keep them on the boil. But they are no good for pulling power, if gas turbines were any good, how come only the USA continues to use them des[pite the Army wanting diesel power? Why aren't gas turbines used used in heavy trucks? There are cars make more hp than most trucks but they can't compare to the torque at low rpm. You want to move something heavy, you need torque, lots of it. You don't need a sophisticated and complicated gear system which will prove unreliable in the battlefield. The tanks we used had masses of torque. We could do a neutral turn on a hard surface with the engine at idle.

Mention that programmed rounds are almost useless against modern (composite) armor or ERA and are not used against tanks. Facing the problem of APS and ERA, the US indeed fall back a good portion of actual tank combat. They indeeed can still fight T70-90 and hope for a good hit with ther latest APFSDS, but it need to hit very precisly, which is pretty tricky by the lower silhouette and by probably both are moving. A hit at a propper ERA like Kontakt-5 or even Malachit heavily decrease effecticvity of even these rounds. The race atm in tech (not in deployed material, which is in both cases way below the technical posibilitys) is between GER and RU. GER has StrikeShield, wich is a ERA/APS hybrid and pretty effective on each whight class of armor. As offensive system, the new Rheinmetall 130mm gun is outfittet with a longer dart, high pressure chamber and the power of the higher caliber to simply reap through everything and bypass ActiveProtectionSystems by its sheer speed. On the other side, russians have pretty sophisticated Malachit ERA on top of either realtivly basic RHA on T-90 or very heavy layers of modern composits on T-14 Armata (which isen't fielded yet). On top of that, RU fields Afghanit APS, which is way better than Trophy, but still inable to catch the latest rounds fired from Leopard 2, which is DM63(by a tiny 50m/s - but claimed to drastically increase this ability soon. Well' see). In offensive, russians are way better and have either Svinets-1 or -2 at ther disposal, which are both KE and both way to fast for Trophy or TUSK armor to react, and will pirce Abrams at any point pretty easy. For T-90 they theoretically also have Vacuum-01 and -02 at hand, which surpase ther Svient's speed and penetration due to a longer rod. As T-14 whooping 900mm penetration of angled RHAe are seen as probably incabable of securing a kill on other theoretical vehicles like KF51Panther, the russians demanded a bigger 152mm gun for the Armata which make the same trick as the 130mm gun from Rheinmetall - less by overpressure, more by brute force (but there are no data available yes. But for the long rod autoloader capable of handling these, we'll have a pretty overkill dart). Only thing unclear right now is the speed StrikeShield can catch up to, but so far only finctional vehilces can even dream of surviving each other - Abrams and Leopard 2 both atm inable to stand a hit from a T-90, while the other way around it is pretty much a question of ammunition and hit location. As a persoonal note: As Abrams reached 70-80 ton whight, it in some ways lost the terrain of 'tank' and gained the definition of a somewhat mobile turret, which very much removes it from comparison - both in mobility (and therfor effective ability to intercept anything) or fighting (as even 45 ton vehilces atm get stuck in ukrainian mud and fail to peform. T-90 and Abrams have similar horsepower, but almost halfe the whight on one of them.

At 6:32 that "APFSDS" shell is modeled incorrectly. The sabot(or also called a dart) is supposed to look more like a pencil with fins attached to it, but as shown in the video it almost looks as if the casing around the sabot never came off like it was super glued to the dart. Edit: I'd like to correct myself, he was showing the HEATFS shell it seems, but that was seriously confusing, just needs to work on a bit of grammar i suppose
