How To Drive An Automatic Car | Learn to drive: Car control skills

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Automatic cars are becoming increasingly popular, as they are easier and more relaxing to drive than a car with a manual gearbox. New technologies such as hybrid or fully electric cars are better suited to automatic gearboxes, so as these types of car slowly take over manual gearboxes will eventually disappear. If you haven’t driven an automatic car before, the lack of a clutch pedal and different gearbox controls may cause confusion, so in this video, we will show how to drive an automatic car.

Sometimes have certain traits like Autism and OCD can make you a more conscientious driver and often have a photographic memory so are better at directions regardless if its automatic or manual as you tend to concentrate and worry about everything in fine detail so when we park you are OCD to park in the lines anyway, same with lanes and selecting gears or selecting park, we park in certain ways unlike other who seem to park with no logic etc you become focused to do everything methodologically missing a method causes anxiety hence everything is done to the letter and logically hence a better driver once we have got our heads around everything of coarse and we are very good at directions as our heads are a giant map anyway, cars are pretty logical unlike other humans! So being disabled isnt always a disadvantage 😁

This is my reason for considering learning with automatic, had some lessons two years ago in a manual but all the faff with gears and clutches was annoying, when I'm not a car fanatic who somehow prides themselves on being able to drive manual. all I want a car for is to get from A to B, as automatics become more popular hope the expenses and costs go down as well.

In my experience it doesnt matter whether manual or automatic you still have to learn all the other road skills. Learning loads in a manual, the difference is it takes longer to learn other skills of the road, some may like manual for the feel of the car but if you are somebody who has a learning problem or if you want to go from A to B, then gears and clutch add time to learning plus some just dont grasp it or clumsy with them depends on your brain. But you still have to learn other road skills, I have found some ignore road signs but are great with gears, whereas I am excellent at road signs but worse with gears, the more important thing for some is gaining independence and not struggling, which for me and people with problems is more important.

He said an automatic is enough for someone just wanting to get somewhere quick and easy. And I thought to myself "I can always upgrade to a manual license whenever I want to, and the plus side is that I would already have learned everything you need to learn when driving in traffic, all I would need to learn is adding a clutch and gear shift to my driving"

@ least from the 1980s to his 2004 purchase of an automatic trans Toyota Camry, my dad had driven manuals (Civic [Honda], Tercel [Toyota], Corolla [Toyota]). The Camry was a pure automatic although he purchased a manumatic Mazda sedan. The above was in Toronto, the capital of Ontario, Canada, a part of the world that very much like the US, overseas dependencies of it and Australia's states and mainland territories, known more for automatic hatchbacks, sedans, pickup trucks, vans and SUVs than their manual equivalents. Public transport buses I've taken in Canada haven't been manuals for awhile, and even long-distance coaches have automatic gearboxes more and more. HGVs are different as many in Canada, if they have manual gearboxes, have non-synchromesh ones. Quite a few are at least semi-automatic ones.

I couldn’t drive, so I set myself a challenge and reckoned the quickest way to get a licence would be an automatic. I’d had 6 manual lessons in my teens, hated it and gave up, thinking driving’s not for me. So, 20 years later, I ordered a new Aygo which would arrive in 5 months from the factory, found an automatic driving instructor (who was great) and took 20 hours of lessons. Passed my theory, then my driving test just in time (phew!) to take delivery of my Aygo.

Please also remember to come to a complete stop before shifting from Drive to Reverse or vice-versa. If you don't you can cause expensive damage to the gearbox. It is also good practice to apply the handbrake before shifting into park on a steep hill so that the weight of the car is being held by the handbrake instead of the parking pawl. If not it can be difficult to shift out of park and over time be damaging to the gearbox.

I've practised in manual cars for years but hearing about automatic cars is a game-changer! It sounds so much easier than driving in manual and I think it will solve most, if not all of the problems I had while driving a manual car! Hopefully I'll finally be able to pass once I've had some lessons in an automatic car!

Less stressful to drive automatic. First lesson was on country side and then we went on dual carriageway and I was allowed to drive all way home. On a manual lesson I had the worst experience, because I had an impatient bastard driving instructor who expected me to know everything. There was no learning, just shouting and telling me my turns were ugly and my steering poor etc I stopped taking manual lessons after my 10th lesson when he told me I need 200 hours to even think of passing my test. So for over a decade I didn't drive cuz he crushed my confidence. But as soon as I sat in an automatic car I felt like home. So if you don't like manuals and you find it stressful DON'T DO IT. You're just wasting your money. I will always drive automatic cars cuz that's my preference 😂😂🚗

@@Sackboy612 I think as long as someone is a safe and observant driver and concentrates on what goes on around them thats more important, the more lessons you have the more expensive it is, my dad drove automatic (he learned in a manual of coarse) and loved his car I loved riding in it and it looked simple to drive, I did lessons in manual and it was more complicated, more to think about, I think automatics mean you learn other things quicker. As long as I can get from A to B safely I dont really care. I wouldnt be in favour in cars parking themselves etc as It's nice to learn a skill like that. Honestly, I like both. To me a manual car gives you the feel of driving, you have more control and "contact" with the car, you get more of a feel and the full experience of driving (really don't know how to explain it), but with an Automatic, it's more of a chill ride, way more relaxed and less stressful (especially for beginners). All in All, both have their own pros and cons, it just depends on which makes you more comfortable.

Even my parents had mostly automatic vehicles from the mid 1980’s to 2018. My mother used to have a car that was manual transmission from 1980-1985. That car was a 1980 Ford Escort station wagon.
