    what kinds of paper would you like to suggest for drawing by ballpoint pen..! how about Brustro Bristol sheets ??

    Bristol is great! I personally like smooth, hot press paper so the ink doesn't skip over the texture of the paper.

    I use ballpoint pens 🖊 for my sketches question how do you keep the pen clean from ink getting all over the paper? I don’t like using paper towels because when I am in the zone it just throws me off and I have to keep doing the same thing!

  • @MsCoopersArtClass

    @MsCoopersArtClass

    Good question! I use a scrap piece of paper to wipe off the tip of the pen every once in a while. It was difficult to remember at first but once I get into the zone on a drawing, I don't even notice that I'm cleaning the pen. I hope that helps!

    What about a larger area, I see a lot of portraits, for example, that the area of the cheek is smooth, but still with a pen, and no lines appear at all but "painted area", if not through the ink smudging, how do you get such a smooth result with a ballpoint pen?

  • @MsCoopersArtClass

    I just use really light pressure and move slowly. I also do end up with a few visible lines but that's just part of working with ballpoint pen. Sometimes I stipple a little bit too in the lightest areas. I hope that helps!

    Does ball point pen ink doesn't last long on paper.

    It does fade with time, so if you want your drawing to last, ballpoint pen might not be your best option. It's still fun to work with, though!

    i can’t figure out how to do shiny/reflective surfaces with ballpoint pen, like the surface you’d see on a crystal or diamond, they always end up looking rough

  • @MsCoopersArtClass

    @MsCoopersArtClass

    3 жыл бұрын

    This is something I'm planning on making a video about soon! The key to shiny and reflective surfaces is placing the light and dark values right next to each other without blending them together much. It looks odd at first, but as the drawing is filled in, it looks more natural. Stay tuned for a video about it!
