How to Draw Hess Law Energy Cycle Diagrams - The Puzzle Method [GCE A Level Chemistry]
Having difficulty constructing the Hess' Law Energy Cycle?
In this video, we're going to learn what is Hess' Law and how to construct the energy cycle with the "puzzle method". By constructing an energy cycle, we will be able to find the enthalpy change of a reaction, which will help us solve calculation questions that is in the H2 Chemistry Singapore A Level Syllabus. #chemistry #hesslaw #energycycle
In this video, we will cover the following areas:
0:00 - What is Hess' Law?
0:37 - Mental preparation before constructing the energy cycle
1:02 - Worked Example 1
5:58 - Worked Example 2

Then what should we do for a hydration of a crystal equation

Hi there Demonx music, thx for the question! I'm implying that you mean when an ionic solid dissolves in water (enthalpy change of solution)? If so, then the equation will be the ionic solid in solid form (on the left hand side of the equation), forming its constituent aqueous cations and anions (on the right hand side of the equation). Hope that answers your question. Let me know again if I misunderstood ur qns :)
8:07 do we always need to add oxygen to balance it out? will the energy cycle be wrong if we do not do so?
@gradefruit

Yep we always need to balance it out and it will be considered wrong if not balanced
How do you know which arrow is wrong? In the second video two arrows were wrong according to me

The arrow that is wrong is the one not following the anti-clockwise direction. In the second example, the arrows on the left hand side of the equation (probably the 2 arrows that u r talking about: -144.1 & 0) doesn’t follow the anti-clockwise direction. Hence I flipped the arrow labelled -144.1 at 8:36 but didn’t flip the arrow labelled 0 because its still gonna be 0 so either ways it doesn’t matter. Hope that answers your question!
I have some q that why we wrote Hrxn by kj unite but Hf and Hc by kj/mol unite..?!

Hi! I believe its all kJ/mol (which I've stated in the video)
all of this for FREE??????? 😲😲😲😲
