I followed this tutorial when I was around 7 years old. I showed my entire family including my brother who was an artist and he was amazed and said I was better than him at my age. I imagined myself growing up to be an amazing artist. I don’t draw much anymore, but this made 7 year old me so happy. I kept the drawing for years, but eventually it was thrown away on accident. I’ll never forget how much happiness this video brought me. :)

I used to think i didn't have a talent, and i used to think i was a bad artist. when i was 10, mark came to my school, he talked about art. and a week later we had a book fair I bought mastering manga and i kept drawing no mater how it looked. i got better, and I'm still working on my skill but I am now way better at art. thanks mark

Hello Mark, I am in fact watching this in 2015 Haha anyways I am currently at the part where I am shading the left eye and I realized how much respect I have for you. If anything I am a really good artist but I think that shading is by far the hardest thing in drawing. Plus the simple fact that you can get every detail in every drawing is absurd but I do think that I am not even half the artist you are. You're amazingly talented at all of your drawings. Thank you for making me the artist I am today.

I want to thank you for your video... this is the first pencil drawing that I've done of a kitten... at first I was a bit frustrated because he seemed quite frizzled because I couldn't get the hair quite right, but I kept following your instructions and believe it or not... though it doesn't look quite like yours... you can tell it's a kitten and finally the hair became tamed! My REAL kitten licked my pencil as I drew this. My lines didn't come out as smooth as I wanted...

I usually love your tutorials, so I was really surprised by this one. I know you were trying to keep it short, but after the basic shape of the cat's head and the eyes (those parts were super helpful) it became kind of hard to follow. The thing is, you know what you're planning to do as you draw, but viewers don't. It went very fast and I didn't really understand where you were going with the pattern guidelines. Still, your how-to-draw videos are amazing.

I suck at drawing without guidelines so I made my own version and it looks awesome...fml

As an artist myself, no one EVER expects you to pick up a pencil and draw perfectly the first time.... beginning a life long passion to art, takes time, patience, and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. I still watch videos like these and others to polish up my drawing. But, please do not get discouraged, that is what drives apart the master from the apprentices.

I'm really enjoying watching your animal tutorial vids Mark. This kitten looks so life like. I've been following the vids and doing my drawings in Graphite. Is that prismacolor pencil you use, graphite? or coloured pencil? Thanks for the vids, great work :)

I was able to paint it, I kind of kept the detail, but it turned out to be more of an abstract painting. I still love it though. I'll post it on my deviant art account so you can see it. My account name is AutumnAce or something like that. Or try PegusisterTR.
