Nice idea. I probably won't use the exact same method as you, but the idea of laying the camera down infront of the TV and then camouflaging it is definitely inspiring.

Thanks for the idea! As I have a walnut top to my tv stand, I ended up using a wooden watch box for mine. As they are used to display collections, they have a glass lid on them. So this allowed me to eliminate the monitor riser so it is now just a wooden box centered on my stand. The boxes are ~$10 more than the catch-all, but in total it is about $5 cheaper since you aren't bying the $15 riser. I will admit I was a bit unsure about the glass on the top of the watch case causing issues for the cameras, but so far there has been no issues. Thanks again!

SERIOUSLY smart!!! I have kids so having a tray full of pebbles won’t work, BUT you’ve still inspired some really creative ideas for me to do a similar setup! My new LG C1 TV is quite frankly too thin to mount the camera on the top as my previous TV and mounting it on the bottom would mean covering up the little control knob/joystick thingy. So this is genius! Thank you! :D

I think this video will really help us, we have a Curved Samsung wall-mounted and the edges of the tv are so thin, we have had trouble getting the camera to stay mounted at all. I cannot wait to try something like this with our camera. I am mostly happy to know that the camera is not required to be touching the TV also. Just being able to attach to anything else may help us. Thanks!

That is incredible. Your whole setup is 10/10! Unfortunately, this trick won't work for me, because I have a moving wall mount, but this is such a great way to do it! I bet the color accuracy improves too, as it's obvious that with the standard setup, the camera is not able to see the screen all that well. There's only so much they can do with calibration too. Bravo!

I watched a ton of videos and found, according to one video, that the color accuracy had to do with the ISO on the camera but was easily fixed with a cell phone ND filter. I have yet to try that, but I am happy with this product, especially for the price. It adds so much more to the experience of watching or playing.

Great work, really enjoying your content on these Govee light strips. I'm curious, are you still using the ND filters on the cameras to get the correct ISO? As it didn't look like they were on in the reveal video!

Thanks brother! ! A lot of times, folks will find content helpful or informative, but don’t articulate it. So I appreciate you’re taking the time! As for the ND filter question, I actually have not experimented with that. So everything you see in this one and later videos are running the cams just as they came out of the box.

Hi, thank you for the video was most helpful and will be trying this set up. Could I ask a couple of questions? 1. Where did you place the connection box on your setup 2. Did you require an additional lead for the camera or was the length of cable enough to do this Many thanks

Question I noticed you have two cameras. I just ordered the Govee Immersion kit for a 75" tv. I was just curious does it come with two cameras, or do I need to order a separate camera?

  • @ChrisJCrowther

I have a question... I just bought an 85" Samsung television... I also bought the Govee Immersion kit for the 75" to 85" and I have a wall mount that is only 1/2' off the wall (so clearly I want the light kit closer to the edges). Doing the math, I think I am going to have to be about 7" in from each side if the corners were to touch. I am wondering if I could add two 2.5" splices (just cut each strip into three at the connectors and solder in 2.5" extensions... This should fix the dark corners. Any thoughts about soldering RGBIC? I wouldn't be adding any more chips, so theoretically it should still work? Thoughts?

Just got a Govee T1 Kit and love it but wanting to hide the cables and camera, I saw you mentioned getting a usb extension for the camera but could the same also be done for the led strips cable? I think it's USB C from memory. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing this superb hack. After taking delivery of a brand new 65"LG QNED TV I wanted to try and do something so that the camera would not be mounted on to the TV, I pretty much followed your setup, only thing that is different is that I managed to buy a black monitor riser with a built in tray which is perfect for placing the camera. Only thing that seems to be an issue is that with the camera being so low it actually sees the LEDs of the govee strip and the bottom bottom centre has a tendency not to react to the TV as it locks on to the initial colour of the strip, will have to investigate a way of somehow stopping the canera from seeing these LED's, I think in your setup buddy the soundbar blacks the LED's so you probably did not experience the same issue?

How are you using two cameras in your setup. Is it for two light strips behind tv for each half of the tv.

  • @BennyChains88

You have an awesome setup! I wish I could do the same. I love the creativity and the DIY. Great job! I'm brand new to Govee products and just installed the Immersion RGBIC LED TV Backlight on my TV. After I was done installing it, the two ends of the light strip ended up overlapping. Would cutting a little bit off the end, so it doesn't overlap, affect the functionality of the strip?

I'm pretty new to this, and the camera is the main reason why I don't have the govee, but why do you have cameras??? Is it because you want to make sure to capture the movements on screen? Does it have another use for it?
