    Amazing video! The detailed procedure for identifying a malfunctioning solenoid valve on an Imperial convection oven was really beneficial. The presenter did a fantastic job of briefly and clearly outlining the procedure.

    That means that it's not sensing flame properly. You may need to clean the flame sensor with some emory cloth, adjust the position over the burners, or possibly check for airflow issues (check to see if the flame is "lifting" off of the burner where the flame sensor is). Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

    Hey this video was really helpful. I have an issue where the oven will turn on but after it starts to warm up the flame will cut out. It seems like it is short cycling. Any ideas what I should check?

    Sounds to me like an airflow problem. As the flames exhaust the air supply, there's not enough to replenish it, the flames lift off the burner in search of air, and in turn, away from the flame sensor. The sensor no longer senses the flame, cuts the gas, and calls for reignition. Check to make sure 1) the building is properly balanced 2) the gas pressure is correct and 3) there is nothing disrupting the flow of air (tinfoil in the blower wheel is a big one!) Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

    Thanks our oven didn't light off for the first time tonight. I found this digging around trying to find out how to adjust the burner. We operate the Golden Prairie Bakery outside of Laramie, WY at 7400 ft elevation. The burner is putting out too much CO and I think it is because of the lower atmospheric pressure at this altitude making it burn to rich. How can I adjust that? Imperial hasn't been of any help.

    Hey Dwight, I'm surprised Imperial wasn't any help. They usually sell "high altitude" kits for their equipment. If I'm not mistaken, you probably need a smaller orifice size to compensate for the lack of atmospheric pressure. From there it would just be pressure and airflow adjustments. But I would call imperial again and as them specifically for a high altitude kit and see what they say. Hope this helps a little. Thanks for watching!

    I have an imperial oven just as the one on the video. Mines turns on but quickly turns back off. Would that still be the main solenoid valve that would need replacing?

  • @Windycityequip

    @Windycityequip

    Huicho310 I would be more inclined to think that would be either 1) Airflow 2) Dirty Flame Sensor or 3) Bad ignition module. The fact that it DOES come on for at least a small amount of time tell me that the valve itself is opening and closing properly. Tell me, does the unit continue to spark all the way until the flames quickly go out?

    Hey there, love the videos, we have an ICVM just like this, however the over under model. The issue we're having is it'll start and run for 5 to 6 hours then shutoff, once it cools it will restart, but after a restart will only on generally for a max of 30 minutes... any ideas where we should start? Thanks!

    Sounds to me like you have a component overheating. It's not uncommon for the ignition module to actually melt in these ovens, or the solenoid valve to overheat if the cooling fan fails or there isn't enough clearance between the fan and the wall. Check your cooling fan first. If it clogged or not spinning, it will need to be replaced. Then you'll need to start checking the components for heat damage. The ignition module is usually pretty easy to tell as it will be discolored or actually melted. Start there and let me know what you find. Thanks for watching!

    We have a brand new Imperial PCVDG-1 Oven in our brand new food trailer. It is one its own circut. On day two it started tripiing the GFCI outlest it is on. We replaced the outlet and it is not the outlet. We got on with CS because the unit is of course under warranty. The had me Ohm each of the 2 solendoid valves. There is one for the pilot light and another for the oven. One of the solenoid had a reading over 100 the other had an acceptable reading. We are on an island in Alaska so getting an authorized tech is not going to happen. My question is, do you think the solenoid is the issue? Would a faulty solenoid trip the GCFI? And lastly, is replacing the solenoid easy to replace. I am not an electrician but I am very handy and do all kind of simple mechanical and electrical repairs. Any guidance would be appreciated

    We plugged the oven into a Non GFCI outlet and it works. So maybe the solendoid valve is creating too much resistance for the GFCI? And can we damamgre anything by running it on t he non gfci outlet?

    Great suggestion. I recommend checking to ground too, sometimes (not often) open coils can find a happy home in a ground and give false readings.

    Hey Rich, sounds like a bad (or wrong) ignition module or thermostat. Make sure the tstat is send voltage when it "calls for heat" and if it is you'll need to follow the power. Wherever it stops is most likely your culprit. Hope this helps a little. Thanks for watching!

    I have an oven that gets 115 to pilot solenoid and I get a good flame but ignitor (RAM 4) will not send 115v to main gas solenoid. I have changed all wires in oven, ran a dedicated ground directly to the ignitor from module, ran a new spark wire, but still no main gas. I was told by Imperial that these valves should read 2.28K ohms but I am only seeing 1.13k on main gas solenoid and 1.11k on the pilot solenoid. Can a weak solenoid coil mess with the milliamp reading being sent back to the module? 17 hours on this beast and losing my hair!

  • @Windycityequip

    YES! I HAVE seen the solenoid valves affect the the voltage at the module. Is there any indication of water damage on the unit? Usually when there's multiple issues like that a short is involved. And usually that means they tried to wash it with water. If you find any indication of this, it just needs to be explained to the customer that water causes unpredictable behavior when combined with electric, which is why it is so difficult and time consuming to isolate. Two more questions tho: 1) Is the module new? and 2) Are you getting enough rectification from the flame sensor?

    This could be several different things. If applicable, check the safety valve, ignition module, solenoid valves, thermocuple
