I hope you answer this reply because I know your video was over a year ago. Can you please tell me why you didn’t cook your eggs first where all the other videos I was watching people scrambled them up then dehydrated them can you tell me the safety and or difference

Hello! Great question. If your goal is to rehydrate for scrambled eggs, then cooking first could be the way to go. I've never done it that way. Dehydrating raw eggs gives you the option of using the rehydrated egg in other things like baking. I hope this answers your question 🙂

Thank you so much for the quick answer back. I really enjoyed your video today. This was the first one and I’ll be watching all of them.
Awesome idea. You'll also have more room in your fridge. Egg cartons can take up so much room. Enjoyed your taste test. Love that you showed beginning to end result. Always a pleasure ❤

15:05 LOL! This video was awesome. So many good tips to ensure you get ALL the moisture out of them. The worst thing would be to open these up later and have such a precious commodity (eggs) have mold on them. Also, I found the pacing/timing of the video just perfect. You fast forwarded when I wanted you to, and gave extra details and tips when they were relevant. So many tips in this video that I wouldn't have thought of if I was doing this for the first time myself. Honestly, this is the perfect video!

LAZY! 🤣 thank you so much. Taking the time to watch and comment means a lot ❤️
Most people cite that a dehydrated egg tastes gritty, when an egg was scrambled first, then dehydrated and processed to powder and then reconstituted. I don't know - I've never had either. But I just got a dehydrator and watched videos like yours to learn the process. Yours is one of the most informative and helpful in guiding us newbies. THANK YOU for taking the time to do this. You're an incredible human being. Good Teachers & Instructors are always awesome!

Hello! When I did my research, I also found that people were saying they had a bit of grit to them. To avoid this, I blended and dried them more than once to make sure the powdered egg was actually powdered. It helped! My suggestion is to try a small amount to see if you like it. Eggs fro. Our chickens are "gold" and we never want to waste them! Our girls work hard for them. Thank you so much for your kind words, I appreciate it 🙂
I just watched your video again. I was checking what kind of silicon trays you are using. My hubby baught 6 for me from Amazon for about $30. Sorry to say they are very flimsy. Yours look more stable and have a nice edge and seem to hold your eggs better than mine. Also I think that's where the smell came from. Can you tell me what kind of silicon sheets you are using? I really would appreciate it. Also, we have 24 chickens, 9 ducks (hence lots of eggs), 3 dogs, 3 cats, also bees 🐝 and a garden. Not to forget my half-moon Conure and a canary 😊❤.
Good to see you Sherry I so need to get a new dehydrator mine is very old. Great video that is another good way of storing eggs I froze and water glassed some. keep up the great work and stay warm. ✌

Hello! You are welcome. Have you thought about selling them to offset the cost of feed? Once you have enough saved for the low egg production, sell the rest. 😁

Hello!! Thank you ! 😊 when we first got our chickens and realized that there is a portion of the year where they really don’t lay eggs, I started trying new things in an effort to always have eggs! You can only make so many quiche or have so many pickled eggs!😂. This is so worth it! Going camping? Travelling somewhere where you need to bring your own groceries? Christmas baking? Sunday pancakes? Use these eggs!! 😁 thank you Cindy for your support! ❤️

@Gardening in the North how many hens do you have? I only have 6 so I'm not having any problems yet with too many eggs. They had completely stopped laying for a few months but it seems they're back on track! I might get a few more hens this summer, to pick up the slack. This is my original 4 hens' 3rd winter so I expect them to slow down.

Hello, we currently have 13 hens and 2 silkies. We just ordered another 14 pullets for our new place, that will arrive in late June. No more bantams for us. We just want full size hens that are great layers. We want to be able to use eggs, save eggs and sell eggs. Ours went from laying 8-11 a day to 1 or 2. However, Derek told the Silkies they were free loaders and might be sent away, and they started laying 🤣

@Gardening in the North hahaha hilarious 😂 Go silkies!!! I'd love to have a bigger flock, but im trying to stagger them so they don't all stop laying in the same year. I pretty much have them as pets so I'm not sure i could cull them, once they completely stop laying. How is your new place coming along? Are you building from scratch? ( I can't remember)
@GardeningintheNorth
Жыл бұрын
Yes, staggering is the only way. Derek wants upwards of 40-50…. We are planning on bringing 3 of the hens from this flock to be with the new 14. We are hoping that when we sell, the buyers want chickens! We haven’t had to cull any yet… ours are all laying, so I’m not looking forward to that. Most likely will keep them for their poop when they stop! Gardening gold The house is being built from scratch. I’m hoping to do a update video soon!
Been a subscriber, but never commented. You did a great job on this video. I've done the "recommended" ABC agencies here in states way yrs ago of first scrambling with no oil, total epic fail! Texture is disgusting. I am that dummy that filled trays out of the dehydrator, it was a nasty mess, lol!! You're spot on with that advice. For those who can't afford the silicone trays, I bought small cookie sheets from Walmart cheap, I cut parchment paper to fit inside, crumple it so it doesn't curl and is a little above lip of tray on all sides. It's worked for me. Also, in the excalibur, I have older ones, fan is at top, bottom tray is always last to finish, I move trays around to get more even drying. Hope that helps someone.

Good morning Nora's Haven 🙂 Thank you so much for your comment. I love that you shared a failed experience but also a new and successful way to do this without spending money. And trust me, you are not the only one who has filled the trays outside of the dehydrator. That was me the first time, lol. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment! 🙂❤
I hope you see this since this video was a year ago. What size in grams are the oxygen absorders do you use? I'm thinking of doing the 20 gram ones.

Hi 👋
Awsome video. Thank you. Especially explaining to wash the eggs and add egg one by one. I have seen too many videos where they don't do that. Even when I watch cooking videos. You will destroy with one rotten egg the whole batch. Here is my question 🙋🏼♀️. Have you tried baking with them? Is the ratio still the same? Also I have lots of duck eggs. Same scenario of dehydrating and rehydrating them? TIA ❤
@GardeningintheNorth
Ай бұрын
Hello! Thank you so much 🙂 Yes, same ratio for when you are baking. Just remember to give the rehydrated egg a few minutes once you add it to the water. I've never done duck eggs! But I have heard they are amazing for baking! All this talk of baking is making me hungry 😁

Thank you for your fast reply. Another question 🙋🏼♀️. I just did my 1st dehydration of eggs. All eggs are from my own girls and fresh. Not one was bad. But when I grind them they started to smell yuk. My hubby said it's fine. Did you ever had that that weird smell of dehydrated eggs?i must say so, that I have a very sensitive nose and smell stuff miles away and even before other people do. Hence I got the nick name "Doe". 😂

Lol, that’s funny. I don’t remember ever smelling a funky smell. I would grind them and dehydrate the second time.

If you are gonna end up putting the dehydrated egg powder into the fridge what’s the point of all this tedious process. That’s nonessential and quite dumb! I just see these things and feel bad for UnitedStatians and Canadians. Everything (food related) goes bad in those lands. In Mexico you do not need to even have a fridge at all and 98% of all groceries, including what in the USA consider perishables, they don’t go bad. For instance, bread doesn’t need to be refrigerated in Mexico whatsoever but in the USA if you leave it out it goes bad the third day. Besides terrible weather dealing with these annoying procedures to survive seem to be a pain in the butt. Do you guys even have time to actually live?

Thank you for your thoughts and opinions. I can not speak for anyone else other than myself. From my experience, there is a good portion of time in the year where our chickens are not producing. Preserving eggs this way allows us to continue to have eggs that our chickens have laid rather than buying store bought all year long. I find using these eggs in my baking has been the best use of them because usually, during the winter months, we aren't receiving as many eggs from our chickens. I hope you have a great day 🙂
