nobody 123 exactly man, top 5s are hard as fuck to make, I can't stand leaving out certain rappers but that's the challenge of it I guess Yet people still take it as a moment to try and" educate" you on the culture because you left out their favourite backpack rapper from arizona or some shit. People get fucking bloodthirsty over GOAT lists, that's why I only partake over comment sections, I dont wanna die for this shit 😂

SAMO KiiNG dude please. That best mc shit is opinion at best. At the most it's popular opinion. The reason people do that because they either conform or they are frustrated someone does not share the same opinion. It's like that "Made you look" remix. It's easily arguable that Luda and Kiss washed Nas on that track, but since it's Nas, popular opinion is Nas did better. You can't say someone is better without another being discredited.

Why everyone sleeps on Andre3000. Most creative . He's a real Artist .. great fashion sense. He's the best writer composter and rapper in my opinion. Outkast changed the south.. He started the fashion trends rappers now days . he's lyrically and musically gifted than most of the top 5. He's always consistent in delivery. wordsmith.

He never got the credit he deserved. 1 big reason is that Kanye overshadowed him. The lane Lupe was in during the 2000's Kanye was at the forefront, even though technically Lupe is a better skilled rapper. If the cool & food & liquor dropped today he would be more valued.

true but that doesn't mean there aren't various degrees of good and bad, i personally would characterize quality as whether it succeeds its artistic intention and how well those appeal to me (ie a feel good song that makes you feel good or a horror core song that makes you scared, or a political song that has good thoughtful messages ) how creativity it is and the influence those innovative decisions had on the medium as a whole, the difficulty of the craft (which is why i respect a lot of "lyrical miracle" rap despite it being a pretty saturated sub genre). 2 and 3 in particular are the most concerned with technically ability like rhyme and flow while for the most part all 3 is relevant to the lyrics themselves. for example Kendrick Lamar's best albums hits each criteria the hardest, exceptionally innovative with extremely unique flows and production (especially in TPAB), compelling in its message, and technically proficient, and those are considered some of the best albums of all time. same with a lot of the other "goats" like Nas and big, both succeeded at what they were trying to do in each song compellingly, wrote their songs in a difficult way that required wit, and innovated the genre. even some sound cloud rappers occasionally meet some of these marks and honestly good for them (granted plenty don't, looking at you lil Xan).

Can we please stop sleeping on Big Boi? I think it is so disrespectful how people are quick to mention Andre, but Big Boi has had plenty of individual success with Sir Lucious Left Foot, I would say that album will go down as a classic. Its so slept on and the experimentation of Vicious Lies and Dangerous Truths that was not as good as Sir Lucious, but to see Big Boi step out of his comfort zone working with Phantogram. Big Boi is just not another rapper and I LOVE 3K, but please do not sleep on Big Boi.

Eminem whad the best producer in the world but most of his beats are wack, beats selection are one of the quality of a rapper. Drake, Lil wayne and kendrick are very good for that that's why their music almost always sound good to the ears, choosing a beat that will fit you well is a skill

Lupe Fiasco. No other rappers are making concept albums like Tetsuo & Youth, intertwining social issues, spirituality, cartoons and video games seamlessly. You can put 'Mural' against any other rapper's best song. He makes conscious songs over trap beats. Not to mention the Michael Young History epic. He's great by any measure of a rapper, wordplay, flow, metaphors allusions, couplets etc...and DROGAS Wave is on the way. Just my two cents..thank you guys for making this video for the culture.

Kendrick Lamar is arguably one of the greatest period , I noticed he never said anything when you brought up Wayne .. how could you not recognize Wayne skills,, innovation, impact on hip-hop , even Scarface who he was dickriding so much said Wayne is one of the greatest of all time ... Use that quote in the next show ... please debate with someone more like yourself .Who's more objective and introspective

East 99 is a classic that I always think of. It is magical. If you haven't heard aquemeni* treat yourself. I still haven't heard southerncadillacmusic blah blah blah. I can't take the critic's serious especially from the golden era. They were haters on some level. How the hell does stillmatic have a 69? Fuck no. Ether, rewind, poison, one mic,2nd childhood, got yourself,my country, what goes around, smoking, rule, the song they removed because Mary jay didn't want to get caught in between their beef. I believe they were biased in favor of jay z and that effected nas. There is no logical reason for that album to rated so low then we fast forward and Kendrick is so high. I can guarantee you if Kendrick dropped in the 90s hell have less acclaim. Don't think so. Look at what eminem went through with benzino. Look at what I described with nas. Look at what outkast went through in the middle of the death row bad boy hype. Pun said it the best "With both hands take off my drawers And jerk me like the Source Awards". If you're going to discuss acclaim and publication fairness can't be overlooked. The grammy robbed Kendrick Remember. He lost to Macklemore.

False. You clearly are young and have a rap iq of zero. Rappers like AZ, Raekwon, KRS, BONE THUGS, TWISTA, BustaRhymes etc were rapping in multi syllabic cadences back then and that complexity in rhyme schemes didn't automatically entitle them to being called "The Goat" without a catalog and skill set to warrant it.

I don't think you could really have a GOAT, you never know, there may be some really, really underground rappers who are technically better than a Biggy or an Eminem. Lyrics wise, a suburban white kid will relate more with a rap about partying and smoking weed than a rap about shit going on in the hood and about the relation between for example black Americans and the police. So even lyrically you can't really say the one is better than the other. Hip hop doesn't even need to be political, it wasn't in the late 70s and early 80s atleast. Yeah, I think a track with some well thought political lyrics is better than one about fucking 'bitches' even though I can't really relate with it, but even that is pretty opinion based. For example, a lot of people label Eminem as the GOAT, but for me in my personal opinion he wouldn't stand a chance because I really just like people like Nas or Kendrick more in the overall picture, even when Eminem is amazing technically and lyrically.

One thing I'd ask Jude is if he really expects Kendrick's last 4 projects to not stand the test of time. For example, I can confidently say that To Pimp a Butterfly will go down as the greatest album of the 2010's, as well as one of the best of all time. It's changed music a mere three years after its release, and has inspired/influenced people outside of the hip hop community from David Bowie to Kasmani Washington. I really don't see us 20 years from now going "man, what were we thinking. That project wasn't that good".

He doesn't rap about the troubles of life as often as other rappers, but that's not all hip hop is for. And it's definitely not all people want to listen to. He does still get a couple of those in though. Listen to "trouble", "nightmares of the bottom", "mirrors", or the entire carter 3 album. He has lyrics, much more than people give him credit for.

Eminem is the goat, like seriously most records sold by almost double to any other rapper. Best lyricist by far he reads the dictionary for fun. Introduced many crazy new styles. Has been creating rap constantly since 88. All his music is catchy as fuck. He can freestyle better than anyone past or present maybe even future. He has the speed, he can rap faster than tech n9ne. His fluent words and fluent flow is unparralel and he was the first white boy who made it big and got accepted by another race into their territory. MGK Mac miller etc all can't rap for shit in my opinion compared to em they are nothing but dust. So there you have it in every category Eminem is untouched so stop saying he's not the goat just cuz of his skin color idiots. Andre 3000 in 2nd.

only half way through, but I have to agree with Jude. Without knowledge of the entirety of hip hop, you cannot even be in a conversation discussing the GOAT. Some criminally underrated emcees (not GOAT status) are AZ, Rah Digga, Phonte, and Left Eye, yes Left Eye, go back and listen to Left Eye flow and then listen to pop Nicki Minaj, or Natina from Blaque. If you can't make educated comparisons you have no business even casting a vote in who the GOAT is. Great show so far. Can't wait to watch the rest!

you know what all these rapper's have in common. Nas, Jay, Z, Ghostface Killah, Outkast, Snoop Dogg, Warren G, Eminem, Tupac, Biggie Smalls... they all mentioned Slick Rick... you know who's picture is in Jay Z's book? Slick Rick. He had flow patterns man. first two albums. Great Adventures has a variety of flows. LL Cool J came out first but Slick Rick had brought the clarity to telling a story like how Scarface will tell clarity stories a few years later

Anthony G Strictly speaking discographies Kanyes and Kung fu kenny can compare with Pacs just how Michael Jackson's discographies can be compared with Beyonce's. All of these artists have multiple years of music that is significant to many people. To me personally Kanye isn't in the goat running since he is strictly an artist and not a rapper, he focuses on the artistry more like someone in a marketing department would.I like people, not just rappers, who write their own music but it doesn't disqualify anyone's greatness if they don't-can expect people to do it all y'know. I grew up post Pac, being born the same year he died, so I've had to have different rappers to relate to though you right. Pac could connect with sooooo many people in many ways. And Cube can't be ignored in this discussion-he does bring his a game I think he isn't only because he isn't trying to be the goat now-can't be the greatest if you haven't driven rap from the driver's seat in 20+ years. Pac is hard to beat but he personally ain't 1. he's in the top for me though

I think Kool Keith is extremely underrated. Sure, his discography is not all A+ material, but he also has like ~20 albums over FOUR decades. Always bringing interesting new concepts, the different personas, pioneered the horrorcore/sci-fi raps, not to mention being part of Ultramagnetic MCs. He can spit in several different styles, and is definitely not afraid to go completely left field which brings a lot of influence .

Lets define a bunch of categories like: Metaphors, punchlines, sales, rhyme schemes, fan base, cultural impact, conscious rap, gangsta rap, speed rap, number of albums, spotify plays, club songs, influence on other rappers, years active, battles, freestyles etc etc. Then score rappers 1-10 in each category, the rapper with the most totalt points = "the best". This is the only way we can try to be unbiased in this kind of discussions
