Thank you for showing some support my vaild chameleon jax died yesterday and I’ve been feeling terrible. I made a little tomb stone for him in the garden and that’s where I buried him but besides that I’ve been feeling really terrible I got a new chameleon but every time I look at my new chameleon I just think of my chameleon Jax and I cry.

It's always so hard to lose our pets. Sometimes I find it harder because we put so much love and care into them. And the fact that they cannot tell us specifically what hurts them makes it worse. I still cry over my pets. We love them dearly and they take a piece of our hearts with them.

I have struggled deeply with the loss of my veiled cham, Pepper, four days ago. On day one, I cried for the rest of the day. Day two, a little less, and so on. This was my first and only chameleon, and the sorrow has been profound. This video helped so much with sorting through my feelings and making sense of my grief. I have had a lot of self-doubt about if his death was my fault, but now I see ways of dealing with that if that is the case. Thanks so much for all your videos that helped me with Pepper--I watched and learned from many of them.

When I lost my veiled chameleon almost a year ago, it was the hardest thing. He was sick, and I was doing everything I could to try and get him better, and I thought he was until then he wasn't. I came home from school one day, went in my room and saw him dead at the bottom of his cage. My dad helped so much, he took him out and we buried him in our yard. I couldn't even walk in my room without bursting into tears, I couldn't even sleep in my room. When I thought I was ready, I wanted to start taking his cage down, but I couldn't do it. It's been almost a year, and I've healdd since then, but it's still hard, and I still think about him a lot. He was an awesome guy and had such an amazing personality ❤️

I just lost my veiled chameleon this past night. And watching this is a little bit of help. The hurt that you feel. I felt dumb for crying for the past couple of hours. And for people not to understand why it hurts. They grow on you. And you put so much time on them. I know it was out of my control but my heart still broke.

I lost my baby, franki, yesterday night. she was a veiled baby. only about 1 years old. my parents are divorced and they have split 50/50 custody, i cannot drive. i am too young too. however, my brother can. so me and my mom have him drive over. apparently through the whole week. my poor girl wasn’t fed. that’s not what killed her, but it’s what contributed to her death. she was sick. we didn’t know it, but she was sick. i went home after getting back from my moms so excited to see her. she was looking fantastic, drinking some water. i didn’t feed her, because i had a cello lesson. so i got my stuff ready and went. i got back at around 8:00 and she was gone. only a year old, i know it’s probably my fault i haven’t slept in my room, i don’t want to see her empty enclosure. my friends understand, thankfully, but it’s been hard. R.I.P franki. she will be missed.

Thank you. You hit so many things spot on. The struggle of "what did I do wrong" is real. We only had him for about 20 days and had his enclosure set up for automatic ideal conditions so we wouldn't make mistakes from just forgetting things. He ate well and easily and showed no stress until suddenly he wouldn't eat and then was weak and too late to do anything. Is it likely he died in that short time from something we did or was he already sick possibly?

Hatched my first panther chameleon from an egg, she got to almost a year old next month. 2 days ago she was acting as she always did. Excited waiting at the food bowl in the morning and walking throughout the cage all day. She went to bed in a spot she doesn't normally sleep in which i thought was odd. In the morning when I go to feed her she is still in the same spot as the night before and seemed weak and tired. When I put bugs in her bowl she took a few weak steps towards the bowl and gave up. Holding to the side of the cage she eventually let go and fell a small distance into the bowl. She quickly declined and I attempted to give a steam shower to no avail. I realized it was her time and held her as she passed in my hand. Im at a loss as to what happened, did everything by the book and have watched all your videos throughout the process. Crazy how such a small creacture can leave such a large impact on our lives. 💔

I'm glad you made a video on an essential and underdiscussed subject ! One big issue I found out the hard way is body disposal. Depending on your country's or state's regulation, burrial of exotic pets, including chameleons, is forbidden. Moreover if you live in a big city it may simply not be an option, and ncineration can cost as much or more than 300USD. These are costs that usually add up to a few weeks or months of previous vet bills and are usually not thought up beforehand. Meanwhile preservation of the corpse can be made within a refrigerating device ( papertowel and a plastic bag/box in a a separate freezer is the best) if time or temperature is an issue. These technical issues I found unpleassant to find out and deal with on the spot, the death of a beloved chameleon/pet being hard enough. I appologize for the blunt details, and I hope this can be of some help to someone. Please feel free to comment if you are more experienced and want to share some advice ! The emotional impact is really tough, you offering private calls in that matter is such a great idea !

At one time my Son and I had 10 Chameleons. We were taking in ones that the people could not take care of anymore. Anyways I get too involved with them. I just loved them like they were my children, AND THEN THEY DIED. I just couldn't take it anymore. They have a short lifespan and my health just couldn't take it anymore. I still think that Chameleons are the most beautiful animals (reptiles) out there. Lots of Love to you !!!!!

It was so hard when my Jackson's cham died. I found him barely hanging onto his branch when I went in to feed him that morning. My nearest exotic vet is an hour and a half away and it was obvious he wasn't going to make it that far. I just cuddled him for the last 30 minutes until he passed. It broke my heart and no one understood. Everyone was just like ok so get another. I couldn't even think about it for months. I kept misting his plants and making sure I didn't neglect them but it was so hard. Eventually I tore his cage apart and cleaned it, set it back up. I still have his ficus tree and a few others. He's buried in the backyard next to my cat. I did eventually get another cham -a female veiled this time who is much more sassy. Karma never tried to bite and didn't seem to mind me doing maintence but Zelda has been totally different. She's bitten me twice but both times were not too long after I got her. She's gotten better and will eat from my hands but usually still tries to grab my fingers instead of the food. I miss my Karma still and wish I had known about temporal gland infections. The vet I had taken him to the first time said it looked like a superworm or something bit him on the corner of his mouth. We treated with neosporin and saline solution and it went away so I thought ok no big deal but when I found him that morning, it was the same symptoms. I have another vet now and that's how I found out about what it really was.

@cs6430 they are so amazing. I still constantly fuss over Zelda and am always scared of something happening to her. From what I understand veiled don't have those glands but I still worry. Jacksons are my favorite but I think I'm too afraid to get another.
