    It’s so satisfying watching you soak them and seeing the bubbles. I gave 3/4 of my collection a good soak in seasol soil wetter yesterday and did this technique. The other dry ones are going to get put out in the rain tomorrow.

    Been soaking a lot of my pots today too. Found an overlooked romeo with a light pot and one translucent leaf. It's still soaking till maybe the whole day tomorrow. 40% rain. Beware the dreaded wet leaves syndrome. If it doesn't rain enough, I will be running around in the rain with an umbrella watering my plants with a hose. Lets keep everything cross.

    Used the seasol wetter and I noticed that whenever I soak the roots prior to planting/repotting, portion of leaves and stems instantly colored, but of course not for so long because I don't water right after planting. It only proves that plant absorbs the nutrients from seaweed. Thanks 4 sharing. Ur plants are so lovely and inspiring to look at💐🌺🌷🌹🌼

    Those Romeos are just GORGEOUS, like jewels. I got some plants that were in really dry/bad condition from the Walmart, put ice chips on the soil on the way home, then got home and soaked them in a tub. I never used to water plants from the bottom like that, till I saw you do it. They perked up so well, it was great. You would never know they were dying before. They told me they get watered, but I could tell the water was just running over the outside of the soil ball, and over the leaves, and not at all getting to the roots. I tried explaining this to them. Doubt anything will change. Too bad they cannot find a way to water from the bottom, the plants would be so much nicer. The only good thing about getting a neglected plant, was due to dropping leaves, flowers like the crested Ghosty I found for $3 on clearance, also contained 4 babies. I also like the challenge of bringing them back to health. I also am trying a new leaf propagation technique. The person who showed how to do it, was comparing the growth of this method, compared to the usual method, and it was amazing. Basically, you put a small pool of water in the center of a plate or small curved, shallow dish. Then place the leaves around the edges, like the petals of a sunflower, so that the seed end is just barely touching the edge of the very shallow puddle of water in the middle of your dish, like the edge of the leaf just touching it, but not immersed in the water. The roots will then reach out for that water and grow much more, giving you bigger, faster growing babies, better propagation. I am hoping this works, because I notice when I put my babies in soil, they just seem to stall in growth. Giving them a lot of root growth first, before putting them in soil, may be just the thing. Like you - I like to experiment.

    More succulents die from overwatering than under watering.. Try mo yung Tropical soil mix ko. Very forgiving sya especially pag mahilig magtubig at may high humidity area. Also mag start ka sa confidence boosting succulents kagaya ng mga Ghost plant at Sedum para ma get mo yung feel ng succulent. Eventually you'll gain confidence and can feel what your plants are feeling. Then progress to the more expensive diva ones.

    If the leaves are soft and the soil is dry, you can soak it in seaweed solution to rehydrate it. But if it's newly planted or repotted and the soil is still moist, it's best to leave it to let it adjust to it's new environment to give it time to develop roots.

    Succulent with thin leaves will require more frequent watering. The agavoides species like Romeo, Ebony, lipstick to name a few requires much less watering. Soil mix that can hold water without being wet or soggy also helps lessen watering frequency.

    If the light hitting them is not strong enough, they will etiolate away from the main light to search for better light. Try putting them in the center of the light and if they still do the same, you're using the wrong grow light. Succulents need a full spectrum light.

  • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK

    @GrowingSucculentswithLizK

    Watering the plants(succulents) doesn't cause fungus to happen. Fungi is an ORGANISM that needs a warm and moist environment to grow. They have to be present in contaminated soil or infected plants and spread via wind, animals, human movements, tools, etc. When the right condition exist, that's when they start to grow. Since the beginning of time, succulents have always been watered from above by rain and on many occasions by floods. Don't always believe people who say that you should only side water succulents because that is not the case.

    I do agree with you, liz, ...my view is, in wilds, every plant gets water by rain from leaves to roots. To keep plants neat and clean of dust should we not mist it during watering and try to dry by soft blower without any harm to plants...in your tone,.. babies..

    Any seaweed solution will do or even liquid compost. Lawn wetter is also a good alternative. I only use soil wetter for potted plants that haven't watered for a long time (because I go away for months) or for reviving wrinkled dried up succulents. I have a video uploaded a couple of days ago where I watered my outdoor succulents after if just rained. Worth the watch. Cheers
