Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video, signs of succulent root rot, and stem rot / 3 signs to catch it early, I show a few succulent examples that have started to rot. Sometimes, signs of succulent rot are not easy to catch. In this video, I show you subtle signs that our succulents give us that tell us there is something wrong. This will help catch succulent rot early, and will give us a much better chance at saving our precious plants! #succulentrot #succulent #howtosavesucculentfromdying
Succulent examples in this video are, echeveria, echeveria prolifica, graptopetalum superbum, sedum donkey's tail, and sedeveria pink granite.

    Yes, I think it may be time to chop it if it does not firm up at all. The good thing about chopping is if it turns out it's not rot, the old stem can grow you new babies. 😊💚

    I’m getting them a lot too! Especially now that it’s super hot! If they look fine and no leaves fall out, I just let them grow new roots (aerial), then I add soil so the new roots can cling onto it.

  • @TheseSucculentBuddies

    @TheseSucculentBuddies

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes, I've done that too with some that I never noticed. But sometimes, the rot can travel up, so I just cut it if I catch it. I leave the parts with aerial roots and just plant the parts with roots in the soil. 😊

    If you try 50-75% pumice or perlite and the rest organic , you may be able to prevent the rot in summer . My pots with more perlite/pumice and less potting soil did better for me this year . But the same plants with more potting soil rotted easier . And some rotted regardless. It was rainy her this year . And so hot . 🥵

  • @TheseSucculentBuddies

    Thank you! I'll try that when I have time to re-pot. Scared to repot coz it's been raining daily but hot. Weird coz my echeverias are holding up this year, especially the chubbiest ones, but sedums are struggling. 🤔

    So you just cut off the rotten stem along with the rotten roots and then you put the succulent with a short stem and no roots in water first to get roots before placing it in soil?

  • @TheseSucculentBuddies

    @TheseSucculentBuddies

    Hmm... that's happened to me to before and honestly never really found the cause. If there are no bugs, my best guess based on my experience is intense heat. A form of sunburn hitting the more tender parts of the leaves causing them to turn dark and fall off eventually. Maybe provide it with some shade during the afternoon... 😊
