Psychedelics are just an exceptional mental health breakthrough. It's quite fascinating how effective they are against depression and anxiety. Saved my life.

Can you help with the reliable source I would really appreciate it. Many people talk about mushrooms and psychedelics but nobody talks about where to get them. Very hard to get a reliable source here in Australia. Really need!

Anxiety happens when you think you have to figure out everything all at once. Breathe. You're strong. You got this Take it day by day.

You got it. I have had overwhelm freeze/anhedonia/future fear for a year now. It rides on a long lifetime of cPTSD. Complicated.

This video just appeared in my in-box and I can't tell you how serendipitous that is. What tips me over is animal suffering and this dog has been crying for hours two days in a row. And it's a puppy tied on a four foot chain. Awful, and in this heat! Understand, this situation has come on the heels of a rodent infestation and trying to find the most humane methods for trapping, a landlord who is out of town, and a skunk that somehow got into the crawl space. I have CPTSD and the freeze response is exactly how this overwhelm feels. Of course I'm overwhelmed. I have very little support in my life. Haven't felt this overwhelmed in a long long time. It's very helpful to think of overwhelm as part of the freeze response and I did have the presence of mind to text a friend, and turn on some Zen flute music and listen to The Kiffness to remind myself that there is goodness in the world. Called the police and told them about the dog situation. But, I also offered to foster this dog and fave absolutely no business doing that and will swallow my pride and tell them I changed my mind if it comes to that. I simply don't have the resources or capacity., but panic sometimes makes me try to be superwoman. Thankfully we have a no kill shelter in town. Going forward, I'm going to tape some of the things you mentioned on my refrigerator to remember I'm not a bad person and that I can cope in small steps. And yes, it's hard being human, and trauma just pushes all the buttons. Thank you for what you do!

Overwhelm for me results in flight response, procrastination, which makes things worse. Thank you for the NCB reminder here and this video.

I get overwhelm from sabotaging myself with too much to do.I take on too many responsibilities that I truly do not need to do which cause my anxiety. The unrealistic expectations I put on myself as a child growing up with a narcissistic parent is where it started. Yes, I need to step aside spend time with God calm my insides and let go of tasks and wasteful conversations giving up energy and take care of me. Love your videos! Thank you!

often it is unclear what priority or urgency to assign a task - this too can quickly overwhelm you. When you can't think clearly - when your higher cognitive function is blocked by emotional affect, you become overwhelmed also by the inability to prioritize - which relies on higher cognitive function. The more unable to think you become - the higher the stress factor which exacerbates your cognitive deficit and so on until you shut down.

I really liked that dialogue of "I am an ok human being who just have too much to do". Also, just remembering that I am safe enough and those tasks may not be truly urgent. You always make it so simple yet so substantial. It just makes sense. Thank you

I needed more money, I started a side hustle/second job, I got overwhelmed and I felt really ill, it only went away when I quit, same happened when I went to university. Moral of the story is, aim low and don't feel overwhelmed I guess

Thanks again for this timely video. I am very familiar with the freeze response. Sometimes, it is literally like being a rabbit caught in the headlights. There is the sense of not being able to move forward or backwards. Instead of having the mental wherewithal to come up with a plan to get on to of things, as you mention, the whole questioning of the future begins to kick in. The brain starts to then think about the worst outcomes possible. Falling into such a state of mind can be soul crushing. I look forward to seeing your video next week regarding overcommitting, another of my failings.

This is an extraordinary and original perspective. Thank you. Never throught of Overwhelm as Freeze Response. I think Gabor Mate felt there were four responses - Fight-Flight-Freeze-Fawn. He added the last one as he saw it as important dysfunctional behaviour of fawning as a response as People Pleasing.

My learned skills to deal with overwhelm have been helpful...to a point. I took notes, especially about the Eisenhower Matrix and your 'improvement' to it. As one who still struggles with an early childhood negative mindset, I am open to all helpful suggestions. Thank you.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I too have a husband who's dang toxic. I'm in the middle, I suppose, with being a people pleaser; well, maybe closer to 70%. It's good to have emotional support and a financial backup he's completely unaware of. Don't worry: one step at a time. Reading the psalms has also been comforting to me. THERE'S a guy (David) who had problems! Some, brought on by his own doing; others, as a victim. Blessings to you. 🥲 And prayers.❤

Thank you for this information, I don’t recall anyone explaining overwhelms, freeze response and anxiety in this way, this was definitely one of those light 💡 moments for me. Now I understand better why I often shut down when I have so much I need to do …. Shutting down actually makes things worse because my anxiety/feeling of guilt gets heightened then that makes me feeling worse about myself. It’s bad cycles. I am definitely going to try to calm my nerves system/ body down. I know it helps when I have anxiety/panic attacks so I think it will help for overwhelm too now that I know it’s anxiety. Thank you 🙏
