I am a chronic overwhelmed person and this one video has helped put some of my thoughts into perspective. Thank you!
When I feel overwhelmed I usually step back, look at things closely and start planning - that's my way at least ;-) And then I'm worried that I lose time with planning hehe
Ha! I had nothing to cross of the list. Honestly. Nothing went on the list that wasn't within my control and central to moving forward. But getting all of my high priority stuff out on paper was a great exercise. Time to prioritize, schedule and get things done!
My challenge is that everything on my to-do list is a great and positive thing.. for example i REALLY want to take better care of my body, and start a Reiki practice because it's my passion, and meet and connect with more people, declutter my inbox, get my homework done, create and sell art... I'm just so stressed that i put everything off... um... actually I just realized what I need to do. hahah, thank you so much =D
Thanks Marie. I was basically just worrying about the same thing in many different ways. Now it's time to just knuckle down and take care of it.
i just found your youtube and i frkn love you. i was thinking "wow, she would be an amazing teacher" but then realized that what makes you such a great guru :D thank you so much for making this free and available to everyone!
I did this kind of idea last week so I could get rid of some stress and worry. So I wrote down everything that worried me and finally I was able to sleep more clearer and have a more clear mind because at one point I thought I was going to go crazy! My mind would run a million miles per hour and I'm like "is this normal?" my mind was so loud and chaotic, I couldn't sleep that well. Ever since I wrote down everything...my loud brain became more quieter and now all I have to focus is what I want!
I'm taking a second look at my New Year's goals and thinking, "what on here do I feel meh about?! Goals that I'm not invested in or excited about need to be relocated to a "maybe someday" list (like learning that second language to a country I have no plans to visit any time soon).

Excelentes consejos Marie. En lo personal algo que me ha ayudado mucho a no sentirme tan abrumado es dar un paso a la vez. El querer hacer demasiadas cosas al mismo tiempo es lo que nos tiene abrumados, así es que la mejor opción es elegir una de las cosas que están pendientes por hacer, que esté directamente relacionada con tu objetivos a alcanzar en la construcción de tu red y ¡HACERLA! Deja de pensar en lo demás que también esté pendiente hasta que termines ese punto en específico. Cuando finalmente lo hayas concluido, entonces sí, toma la lista de pendientes y elige uno nuevo y enfócate exclusivamente en ese hasta que lo hayas terminado. De esa forma, de un paso a la vez, te sorprenderás de todo lo que puedes lograr una vez que comienzas a crear un ritmo de trabajo.
Great video Marie! I tell my clients all the time to brain dump when they have too many ideas and don't know where to start because you're right they can not have all that mental clutter in their head -- I also know "outer clutter" creates overwhelm too do it's important to treat your workspace like the prime real estate it is!

I took twice the amount of time. I used a "I'm worried about ... /I fear ..." format in a first time, then a "I'm sick of ..." format, and I finished with some "I deserve ..." affirmations. And I went outside and burned the whole thing with fire.

Marie, Your videos are really awesome.! I'm an avid fan and watch many of them more than just once. Thank you and continue doing what you do best! One thing I noticed, however, is that for step 2 of this exercise, people shouldn't just put a line through what is out of their control but convert them into things they can control....you alluded to this within both of your examples =) Cheers for all the great pieces of advice Keep 'em coming, along with the Biz Nuggets from your kitchen! I liked this a lot but I have to say I did NOT have a lot of lines. I think I just lead an overwhelming life right now and hopefully I can just see that it should be temporary, this too shall pass, and try to survive it. Thank u tho, I will be watching more

I am gonna try this, mainly because I feel so overwhelmed. I am hormonal, end of my pregnancy, lots of stuff to get done prior the baby comes, I am in maternity leave and my job doesn't offer pay maternity leave. My husband is stressed with work and I think he may hate me because I am not working, and I know he doesn't. He gets overwhelmed because he has to turn in work on time. I feel fat. I am so done with everything but there is a lot to get done. :'(
if you could make a video on what to do when your worrying about something that's out of your control? a friend of mine has to be moved to his father's who's... not the best person for him to be with (if you get what I mean) and I can't stop worrying and what's worse is I can't get hold of him. please help, I need to calm down and it's stuck on my mind x
Wrote the list, it was half a page of the same one worry. No lines crossed on the first step, no lines crossed on the second one either. However, good exercise. At least now I know it's just ONE thing I have haunting me, so next it's fix that, outsource and get it off my mind. Also, does Sabine from Amsterdam have a youtube channel? How are people sending in these questions?

I think it's too late for part 2 of the exercise, but I can remember what I put down.
None of mine were meh or out of my control. They're all legitimately things that I must do and are due soon. :( #DontDoGradSchoolKids Seriously. No shade though, I legitimately love every single one of your videos. My life just sucks that much right now that not even this could help lol... Whaaaaaaa. I hate grad school! lol ugh... back to the dungeon for me.

My list consists of MANY things on my control, I cannot cross anything off :( I need to breath and get the most important things done. One thing I learned (I am also a student), to sleep, exercise, and eat healthy food. When I don't do those 3 things, I find myself taking longer on tasks, and procrastinating, or just feeling tired.

What if I can't do something but I have to for school and it's due tomorrow
I am really stressed, I tried the excercise-but it didn't work for me. Pretty much everything that I am overwhelmed with I need to get done right away. And there is things that seem to be not working out-but I need to get them done.
This actually made me feel like a bigger loser and way more overwhelmed. I'm literally drowning in a list of things that are all under my control and I just can't do them right. How do you deal with overwhelm with things that you can't 'meh' away?
