Ойын-сауық
Heartbreak is a universal feeling, but everyone copes with it differently. Presenter, actor and singer Denise Van Outen tends to throw herself into work, keeping busy with exciting professional opportunities, to distract from any pain.
In this chat with Fearne, Denise talks about how she’s learnt to accept being alone after heartbreak and acknowledge the stillness without constantly trying to fill the void. Close friends Fearne and Denise also share their experiences of raising blended families, and chat about how much of your heartbreak - or any other pain - you should share with your kids.
Denise’s book, ‘A Bit of Me: From Basildon, to Broadway, and Back’, is available to buy now.

What are your go-to strategies when coping with heartache or a breakup?

I deleted social media apps and spent some time adjusting to being on my own again. I re-arranged furniture in every room, bought some photo frames and filled them with photos of friends and family, bought myself some flowers. Basically making the previously shared living space feel like a new and fresh start with no reminders of my previous relationship and routines. Building new foundations and routines is a must! Swear off dating for a while and then the right person will come along when you aren't looking. Infidelity could make you mistrust other people, you need to remind yourself that not everyone is like the person you just dated and that you may find someone more like minded that has experienced infidelity themselves and so less likely to cheat on you as they know how it feels. Take care of yourself is No.1 priority x

I just have to remind myself it's not my fault & when I concentrate on loving myself again ...that's my therapy... I love myself more than the guy that hurt me x

Would have been better if we could see Denise's mouth, easier to follow the conversation
Denise is such a lovely genuine and honest lady. Wish her all the best. She deserves it :)

Agreed. She’s also been stereotyped and labelled because she’s from Essex. She is very talented but imo was never given the chance to fulfil her potential. It’s interesting how much further ‘posh’ actors go vs the average people
I've had a really rough few years and struggle to even admit that to myself.. Still hung up on my ex too, and that was a decade ago! It's time to heal and move on. I think ur podcast is going to help! This conversation was beautiful. Thanks!
Wishing Denise a contented, happy future…..she deserves it.
What a brilliant chat ladies. Felt so natural and great to hear this talked about so openly x
what a lovely normal conversation... so enjoyed this ladies
I really needed this right now! Thank you both
Denise the universe was showing off when you were made, you are incandescent and joyous. Australia 💟
thanks for the chat ladies ❤
For some reason this popped up on my recommendations. So glad it did. 😊
🧡 loved this chat! And that you saged 🥰
Thank you Denise . Blessings
Organic and honest conversation. Thank you 👌🏻💗
Loved listening to this conversation ... both lovely ladies... being open and honest! I'm a therapist and I would definitely agree, Denise is right about therapy, it is about self discovery,. Personally I feel we have the answers within us, we just need a safe environment to work through it sometimes.

I like Denise. She has a great attitude and is so positive. Great interview.
Loved loved loved this conversation ❤️❤️❤️
Great conversation ladies. Only wish Denise’s microphone was angled away from her face so we could have seen her a little more. But thoroughly enjoyed this.
Very enjoyable interview, thanks both 👏🏽
Loved this chat! Denise’s book is now pre- ordered on Amazon! Can’t wait to read it! ❤️

loads get dumped dear me why worse for limelight lot.. sad
Lovely interview
Haha ! Makes sure he has a job !! 😂😂😂😂cracked me up !
She’s a very talented performer who imo wasn’t taken seriously enough due to stereotyping and snobbery.
I think personally wouldnt advise her to go on dating apps and meet people in real life ... waste of time for a celeb...lots of cheats , on them .Complete waste of time! Best meet through friends connections. That is such an ideal way 👍.
You do grieve 100%
After listening to this I now know what it's like for two women to be constipated for an hour in separate cubicles.
Loved the chat, but would have been nice to have seen more of Denise, rather than the microphone x
I wish I could meet denise. She s such a lovely lady.
The microphone in front of one ladies face is of putting,
I did the exact same thing with a dating app .. I deleted it straight away
I never did the dumping too. I married the first person who didn’t dump me. My self esteem is terrible to be honest. Heart ache is the worst 😞
Know the dating app feeling! So scary 😂
That's so funny about the advice thing when Denise said about ferne saying stay with the bad feeling. I thought I bet fernes thinking ...really? I actually said that?🤣🤣😍

It is about staying with the feeling even if it is uncomfortable. You are then able to move forward stronger than if you suppress or push down negative feelings. Fern knew what she was saying and was correct. Have a look at mindfulness / stress reduction programmes. X
One with a job I love it So true Eddie Is such a fool and I’m sure he regrets it his loss
BEEN PAST AROUND MORE THAN A RELAY BATON!!! HAHAHAHAH..😂😂😂
the microphone covering Denise's mouth is very annoying
2 Men having a chat!
Fearne Cotton is TL but Denise Van Outen is military. Help Ferne Cotton to defeat Van Outen.
The microphone Infront of Denise needed to be moved.

It has been placed there to hide her Tash..🤭
Is Denise hiding a big zit behind that microphone 😜
I think Denise has gone from a young boot to an old boot. She’s never has and style, finesse of class. Only popular cos she’s got the carry On element to her

@@emmadeal1105 and people wonder why people from Essex are tired of all this stereotyping. Denise suffered horrific snobbery I witnessed it as somebody who worked at a newspaper. The things that were said about her were awful. We really have an issue with women who aren’t posh in this country. And it never gets addressed as I think the powers that be would rather people like Denise didn’t exist
