Wish I came across this tutorial yesterday.I just had my hair cut at a salon and I am so unhappy with it.Thank you Heather for This tutorial you made it so easy and simple to understand. As soon as my hair grows out(which will take months and months I am going to start cutting my own hair. Thank You so much!
Thank you for this video! It’s to the point, thorough, and you show each step more than once. Finally, some beauty and brains that are also helpful!!!
Perhaps it's just me, but it would be very helpful if you wore a white or lighter colored top. Even though your hair is that beautiful vibrant red, the black top doesn't offer much contrast to see the details. Still - this is a very helpful video. Love your attention to detail and pacing it so the viewer can follow! Thank you.

This is pretty much how I've been doing my own hair for years. I like that your video is very fast, no ton of talking about whatever, you just go through the steps quickly, but not too quickly. It isn't a perfect way, it leaves sort of chops in the hair because this way you don't get the transitions between layers super smooth like a proffesional would do but if you always do something with your hair, if it moves or you wave it, it's not really visible and it works so I approve. I like that you can do it yourself in a few minutes and it costs nothing.
I love the simplicity of your technique. Thank you for this! I'll use this trimming method between professional cuts.
Finally a diy tutorial that makes sense and I absolutely love that red
Your amazing! I love how detailed you are and how well you explained yourself. That’s for all the good tips and advice. Your hair looks great!
Thank you! I offen cut my own hair. Over the years I keep learning. Your a lovely young woman🍃

Thank you for this video! I’m trimming my hair tomorrow and dyeing it as well and you cleared up a lot of stuff for me. :-) I definitely know not to cut the base when doing layers now (THAT was my problem haha!). Thanks again x
this is awesome information. hate the tutorials that say you put your hair in a pony tail and there u go!!!!!! its not that easy! this looks a MILLION times better. thank u
I watched this video a year ago (& followed your instructions with great results), I came back to remind myself during this virus drama since we cant get out to a hairdresser. Really simple tutorial to follow, and I cant imagine we'd be able to do too much damage to our style using your method. Luckily I have hair and style v similar to this, so Ill again be following your tips. Thankyou so much, this video is probably going to be watched by allot more people under these circumstances. Even though it wasnt your initial intention! V helpful ❤❤❤ 🌹🌹🌹
Thank you Heather! Great video. I've been cutting my hair for years....since the choppy bob came in and I couldn't get anyone to cut it the way I wanted so I just grabbed some old pair of scissors and chop, chop. I can't believe it but I pretty much cut my hair now the way you just taught us to. But I learned a few new tricks! Thanks again.
Omggg an actual video that's helpful!! I love this. I kept seeing those vids where they put their hair into pigtails and I just don't like how it looks like.. So THANK U, SO MUCH. This definitely gave me more confidence
Very helpful. I have been cutting my own hair for years and this is similar to my current technique but better. I only wish I'd seen this earlier. I can't pull my hair in the back around to the front to see like you show because last week I went really short and now the back is kind of a disaster. oh well! My hair grows fast and I will figure it out.
You look beautiful! Good advice, have been cutting my hair for quite some time like you suggest. Only drawback is that my arms get tired and it is difficult to do the back. Thank you, easy to follow!
You explained this so well and so clearly. I also enjoy your personality! Thank you!
THANK YOU! I may have watched every DIY haircut video on KZread but THIS is absolutely the most helpful one. I don’t want to watch an amateur cut their own hair, even if it turns out ok (which it often does not!). Call my crazy, but I want to watch how a professional hairstylist cuts her own hair. I love the tip to not section the hair, that you didn’t do tons of point cutting, and thank you for the explanation about layering around the ears. I just cut my own just-below-my-shoulders hair for the first time into a blunt long bob and it turned out *beautifully*. Thank you!

thank you, this is the best tutorial on self cuts I have seen.
Wanted to thank you your instructions worked well. I have breakage in the back that I'm not ready to have a hairdresser hack off to even it all yet. Now I can save money doing my own and keep my ends trimmed and healthy until I've got enough growth to feel comfortable enough to do the big hack and even the bottom layer out. So appreciate this video!!! Please do more DIY
Thanks so much! Very helpful and your hair looks great. Going to try this. Looks like how my hairdresser does it.

This is literally best tutorial. I have long straight hair and have never love a self cut more!!! I have done the unicorn cut but it only takes length off the front and makes my haie super choppy - but not this one! *I did not add layers*
THANK YOU...THANK YOU...THANK YOU!!! My stylist is one of my closest friends but my husband and I are a one income family, and even with my family discount it’s NOT in our budget for haircuts, for the first time in my adult life 😔 {my hubby’s is buzzed, so I do that}. I have gone without a haircut for two years because I don’t want anyone other than Ashley cutting my hair {that may sound super snobby, but I have very thick, very curly hair and not just anyone can cut curly hair well. She has been cutting my hair for 9 years and we just jibe}. Part of the reason we are just one income is because I have fibromyalgia and psoriatic arthritis. I am also on an Rx that causes me to lose my breath quickly. My hair is down to my bra and as I said, VERY thick. It is quite a chore to just wash and condition it, much less take the time to put product in and sit and diffuse it. I have NO choice but to cut it myself. NOTHING fancy, I just have to get the weight off!!! This video shows me ABSOLUTELY everything I need {my curls look much better with some layers, so you even covered that too!!}. I know this was very long, but I wanted you to know the full weight of what finding this video meant to me {I was actually crying when I started this comment}. Your comment that if peeps are gonna cut their own hair, you want to show the correct way...It means the world!!! Thank you, again, a thousand times!!!!
Yours is one of the best explanations of cutting I've seen, especially in explaining how to hold the hair and how to cut straight across. It helps that your hair is about the same length and volume as my own. Great job.

Love it.... I did watch and cut my hair.. Turned out great! Thank you so
Hi, this was really helpful, thank you SO much. I am not well, will be home bound for a lot of the next year. I am used to coloring my own hair, I use a semi permanent now, actually near to your shade, after losing it all to chemo a couple of years ago. My stylist explained that the semi perm would be better for my newbie hair, and I get the chance to change over as all my hair with years of permanent color fell out 😨. I loved being bald though, so nice and cool and no work lol. I am very positive .....i had been getting regular trims now for months, but just wanted to fix it up a bit. I restyled it with bangs, just using the cut I had, by following lots of videos put together and they are lovely. It makes it easier to style, while I can't get out for trims. I'd like to grow it out, and I keep looking at those fuzzy little bitty ends that would look better cut. I am going to purchase shears and so was very grateful for you taking time to show us how to use them! That really helped. You were so right, those of us who are going to try, might as well listen up where we can, to lovely women like yourself who understand this and decided to help. It's not like we're cutting anyone else's lol, just our own very precious locks. Thank you for not judging, at the end of the day, it is my own hair. ...I've been bald and back, I've earned the right I think 😉😆😄. You are just super and I learned a lot. Thanks again ever so much! 💗💚💗
