Wait this is essentially an updated version of the "scene/emo kid" mullet I had in high school 😂 Always did it myself with a razor . this is hilarious.

@@alannaodonnell7272 Same 😂 like literally watching people layer their hair with a damn Gillette razor & forcing myself to work up the courage to do the same to myself because after trying (& failing) to accurately describe to several hair dressers that I need them to essentially butcher the top layers and ignore the bottom one, I gave up on that hahaha

It's amazing how you feel like you're cutting so much off, yet most of the length is still maintained. It's just a lot lighter in volume, more airy and less hot for the summer. Yet still looks full without the heavy hair pulling it down flat.

Should have pulled out ponytails so that we could actually see how it looks before it's "tidied up"

Did this one in about 5 minutes. I have recommended to friends who might like it too! I used texturizing scissor to thin out the ends a bit. Looks great!

This cut is so simple I was able to give it to myself even though I have been paralyzed by a stroke I had six years ago on my left side and it makes it difficult to hold my hair up to cut because my left hand has little feeling in it.

how did it go?? I also had a stroke a year ago and it affected my right side. Before that I could easily gave myself haircut. I actually learned on myself but now its hard to do movement for long times. I was looking for some easy but stylish haircuts.

@@naimamukhtar1516 I am a occupational therapist and I really think you should give it a try. I used to spend $85 plus tip on my haircut and I kid you not the unicorn cut is the best haircut I have ever had in my life. I will never go back to the salon for a haircut again. But style aside, I think you would be able to do it and if you needed partial assistance it would be something that you could still feel independent in while having a little bit of assistance with GREAT outcome

This is not a mullet lol. 😂 Mullet is literally a short boys like cut in front with long in back with two totally different looking hair lengths.

I was too. I finally did n have done for yrs. Always in style just style it different. I have thick course hair n this is a great cut. Wash n blow or wash n style !

i usually wear my hair side parted, i did it knowing it might not work anymore with this but it turned out amazing with or without the side part, even better than my original side part lol

I’ve had hairdressers that told me you just cut the hair normally as if you’re gonna have a middle part or no part. Then after the cut they style it with the part in it.

@@suspicioushippopotamus yeah my mom is actually a hairstylist so she's taught me a lot...and I always point cut when I do it myself...just don't have the dexterity to do this myself...lol My husband already did it and it looks great ...my mum even likes it ( she's out of state).

About how many inches from the pony on top did you cut? I REALLY like the length on the head.

I cant see the forehead ponytail ending up that short of a layer as in the finished. And how does one “ chip away” after initial cuts.

@@xBIOxHAZZARDxBAMBIx Meee too, I have some really weird short layers towards the front now😅 I kind of fixed it though? I have the side of my head shaved off, so this obviously might be a bad theory: I put the ponytails over directed where my hair is parted based on the idea that middle pony = middle part. I also saw that in another comment he mentioned moving the front ponytail back further slightly to account for anyone who already had bangs so I did that. I'm not sure if it actually looks good? I was thinking about posting a tiktok to get some opinions. Also: I moved the front ponytail back slightly because the stylist in this video replied to a comment recommending that if you had bangs. So now I have the weird short layers all the way around. It's not exactly what I wanted but it'll grow out and my hair is really wavy anyway

I would say cut an inch at a time and take your hair out of the ponytails to check the length. I am also nervous about not knowing the exact length I'm cutting off 😭😭

I know this os 3 months late but what I have done is like part my hair again so its like in half of the half and then I cut that so it only cuts the front parts

i straightened mine before doing it, so personally i would say that would be better. or get your hair wet and brush it and then cut it, if that makes sense

You can leave the bangs out or include them if possible the choice is yours. If you leave them out place the pony tail a little further back.

Show how to color hair at home please. Cover gray and darker roots over a salon colored hair. (Clairol nice and easy dark blonde to be exact) tutorial. I can't find one stylist who will admit this works. Thank you in advance.

They always say it won't work, but it does. I know of people that have done it clear back from the 70's. There's different variations of where to put the pony tail or pony tails to. Stylist do say this isn't how you layer. It is a way to layer and if it works for you and you like it, go for ir.❤
