Amazing work Alan, so awesome to hear
Okay, just got done. I am very pleased. I have the layers that I was looking for. I wanted them in the back as well so I just took it around at the same length. I cut my own hair so I also got an arm work out, lol. Seriously though, if you wait to do the length until AFTER, as he did, as I am doing, I don't think you'll find the layers too choppy. I hate the way my hair gets weighed down. I can't wait to style it tomorrow. Thanks.

Great tutorial! Love the clear guides. Wondering, at crown (time stamp: 5:12) how you decide length? Is it predetermined by how long you want the back perimeter to remain?
@HairByJamesAnnabel
2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for watching. The length is predetermined by the length in the front face frame, increasing the length into the back zone.

@@HairByJamesAnnabel The “professionals” don’t even take the time to do a good cut let alone watching an excellent video. I’ve cut my own hair 2 times, and it was as good as, if not a little better, than from salons. It’s a lot of work because I have thick hair, but at least I get what I want.
Hi James! I wish you were in Canada to cut my hair. You really do an awesome job!! I've been cutting my hair for about 4 yrs and while it's not amazing it's also not bad. Then I went to a hairdresser to get bangs. I specifically said I want thick, full bangs straight across. I got sparse, thinned out bangs and there's spaces in my hair ugh. That was 5 weeks ago and they still don't look good. Any tips would be appreciated. You could teach some hairdressers a thing or two. Sorry for my novel lol. Have a great day!!
@HairByJamesAnnabel
Жыл бұрын
Welcome to my channel Frances, and thank you so much for watching. I really appreciate your feedback. Biggest tip for a full fringe / bang, make sure your hairdresser is mapping out your bang from the top curvature of your head shape to the recession on each side. If you scroll through my tutorials look for a thumb nail with a bnag and you will see how i zone out my bang. I hope this helps, thickness is everything!
@kindhearted1
Жыл бұрын
@@HairByJamesAnnabel Hi James! Thank you so much for your reply and the welcome!! I truly appreciate your great tips. I will have to wait until my bangs get a touch longer and fill in from the thinning mistake that hairdresser did. Keep making your great hair vids!! I really like your square layers vid. Cheers! Frances 😎
Great video! I love the curly styling. I'm a curly girl with shoulder length thin hair. When I say thin I mean low density. Do you think this cut would make my hair look thinner especially with all the layers? I need a pretty solid perimeter. I do like the square line at the end. Might help maintain the illusion of more hair for me 🤔
@HairByJamesAnnabel
Жыл бұрын
Yes of course! This haircut would be great for you if you have experienced layers before and you know your density still looks great with layers. Length is important as it will also help to maintain the illusion of density.
Thank you so much for your haircut technique!! Makes it so easy for us non professionals to keep up a decent routine ❤😊

Thank you for this great tutorial. Just one question: If someone usually wears a side part - would you cut the layers according to that or with a middle part?
@HairByJamesAnnabel

Hey, great question. Personally i always educate my clients on the benefit of being versatile with their parts. So most if not all of my clients are cut to the centre parting. This haircut looks beautiful with a side part, even when cut to a centre parting.

Thank you, James! Is there some way I can buy you a coffee and croissant; Venmo, Paypal? My hair is naturally curly, fine, and dry. I just watched this twice then cut my own hair. I know that's horrifying to most, if not all, stylists, but I've had so many bad haircuts that I've given up and just cut it myself. I've never tried to cut layers like this though; My hair looks great! Curls hide my mini-mistakes. Thank you for sharing your talent in such a masterful way.

I totally get what you are saying. Just take it from around the ear and follow it around the back of the head to the middle on each side. That's what I did. Seems to have worked well. I keep checking it and it is going together. Oh, I would definitely WAIT to cut your length until AFTER. That way if the layers feel a bit heavy, you are going to be taking some length off anyway. Hope this helps.
