How to Cut and Melt Paracord - Electric Rope Cutter

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this short five minute video, knife maker Gillian unboxes an electric rope cutter from Pearson Industries. The knife maker explains the dangers of breathing the fumes from the hot knife melting synthetics, and warns users not to get burned. The knife maker explains how to cut paracord with out a knife, using the electric rope cutter hot knife. Three examples are given showing how to cut and melt paracord, a larger sized 10mm synthetic rope, and finally the electric rope cutter is used to cut and melt 1” webbing. In closing the knife maker advises users to bolt down their electric rope cutter to the wall or table to help prevent from being burned.

Thanks for the excellent video, I make stuff with paracord and I can confirm that burnt, singed, melted cord + fingers = no fun. This seems much better than a Bic or Zippo lighter. The "blade" and the way it's attached reminds me of my dad's old Weller soldering gun... ooooh... that gives me an idea! 🤓

Thanks for the excellent feedback Bob. Yeah I use the cigarette lighter in one of my earlier lanyard videos, that was filmed before I purchased the Electric Rope Cutter. kzread.info/dash/bejne/oKCWrtuxhtyzd8Y.html There must not be much demand for the electric rope cutters, beyond rock climbing outdoor shops. Mine was several years old new, right out of the box. I haven’t tried a soldering gun, but I’m sure it will work.

Hello Carmelita, I have not tried using it on poly braided clothes lines, but I believe the cutting tool will become hot enough to melt any synthetic rope.
