How to quickly and cleanly finish paracord ends

Here are two quick tips for making a fast seal and clean finish on kernmatle rope (e.g. paracord) ends. It's common knowledge to use a match to melt the end of nylon rope. In this video Harley shows two alternative tips to seal the ends faster and with a better end result.

Great idea! Just a tip I learned in chemistry with any flame the hottest part is just above the tip of the flame. No soot blackening up there either. I often use a candle that way to fuse paracord and now by combining with your technique I can also avoid the blob. Thanks!

I like this video strictly because never expected anyone to be able to pull off tim Allen tool time "MORE POWER" correctly in a simple craft video. Butsorry already knew using the torch was best but cutting the inner back worked perfect for what I needed

Yeah, that'd be a great solution, particularly if you had to cut it on a regular basis. Peace.

Cool. I wonder if you can cut the cord faster using tin snips.

RimstarOrg Yeah, the craft knife was suboptimal. For the project I worked on I used my wife's sewing scissors. That worked much, much better.

That's a good method I'll try that when I make paracord laces to seal the ends. Thank you

Soo what if my bracelet has frayed for about two inches? Would i use a lighter from the lowest point all the way to the top?

I assume you mean the outer part has frayed and exposed the inner core. I'd cut the core back with scissors or a knife so it's just a bit shorter than the outside and then use a heat source to melt the end. Cheers.

The lighters are available pretty much anywhere that has welding and torch supplies. Here's an Amazon associate link: amzn.to/2kYb9Sh
