I like your show. It's simple, down to earth and without a lot of BS. Im 83 and learned a lot of things that would have made many things so much easier. Probably won't get much use out of all this, time constraints, but never too old to learn. Thanks

The flat spot is an excellent idea. The GF and I went shopping and bought a whole watermelon. She knew how to do it but took off this morning without cutting it. I'm stuck with it for about a week and needed instruction. This vid was a big help. Thanks for taking the trouble to make it.

I am as amateur at cutting anything amateur at cooking i barely do anything when it comes to any of this. Picked up a knife and cut watermelon like a pro my wife said because of thie vid. 10/10

Yes picking them out can be tricky. I have been told to look for the yellow spot that they were sitting on in a field.

Sure I don't see why not.

Make a flat spot on any fruit or vegetable where stability is needed: cutting shoestring potatoes, wedging or slicing an onion, and especially hard squashes! But be really careful with these. Consider investing in a cleaver, or long scalloped cheese or bread knife to facilitate safe entry into these very hard and large gourds/squash/berries/modified berries. (All terms are correct for these botanical berries. BTW, all melons are also berries.)

Wouldn't a slicing knife work better?

You didnt cut based on the location of the seeds to deseed it. I guess this is fine for seedless watermelon only.
