SKIP TO 4:30 FOR THE HAIRCUT, if you want just the haircut, but before that ive got some shoutouts and competition news. Did you like the comparison?

I’m a professional hair dresser and I love the 1/2 and 1/2 technique. Please continue some of your cuts this way. As you said it does help give me a better understanding of the angles and over direction of sections, etc. Thanks again Paul for the great videos!!

Two days ago I decided to cut my hair a shag/wolf haircut mixing the ponytail technique and the professional one and this would have been super useful 😭😂 Thanks for the video anyways

Wow. Seeing you work shows me exactly why some stylists did amazing work on my hair and others gave me more the ponytail side. Lol. You make understanding the directional angles so much easier. Seeing that lovely professional side, I want that! If I ever grow my hair out again... Love your content!

Thanks for making these videos. I’m home bound and really appropriate being able to cut my own hair. I did the pony tail shag and ended up with a big step (user error and super thick hair). This vid helped me correct it. TY! Also, some of the comments are really crappy. I hope you pay them no mind. I appreciate the videos!

I think I like the ponytail side more, because it looks shaggy vs softly layered. It has the chunky texture I think of in a shag. I also never think people with shags are wearing blow outs. Seems to defeat the purpose.

I agree. I never get the shag I want when I go to the salon because the blend the layers too much. I love the drama of the shaggy layers!

Wish you would do a cut like this with more volume at the crown vs the fullness thru the cheeks. A little too much puffiness thru the cheeks which doesn’t help round faces. Need more scoop thru the cheek level/neck/interior layers. But good work nonetheless.

Why not show how to do the pony tail cut first & then show how to clean it up to get the professional look? Or maybe that is what you are doing w/ showing it side by side ...?

  • @TerryLightfoot

Yes, but could you do the pony tail haircut properly, that is with wet hair like every DIY tutorial tells us to do it?
