    I love that you start with Fsc instead of chaining x number of chains. I prefer the Fsc. Love this pattern and video, it's very simple to follow.

    Hi Tuula Maaria! My sister in law had a great idea: the single strand of yarn holding up her wind spinner got frayed because of too much spinning (it’s windy in her area). She thought of a nylon fishing yarn to replace it. I think dental floss would work out as well. Floss is easier to knot than nylon. Hope this helps!

I was very impressed, having never seen them before and now, Thanks to you Tuula I can make my own. I'm thinking Christmas, out on our back verandah, red green and silver or gold wind spinners hanging down from the roof. Would look very pretty.

    Wonderful! This made me think that these would look nice even here at Christmas time, especially if there was snow (which we most years don't have here in the very south of Finland!) Different Christmas colours hanging from your roof would look lovely, a big job though getting them attached there!

    Very nice, I just enjoy listening to your voice :-) Something I also do with other hyperbolic crochet (so much fun!), is to crochet the last row over something like a lightweight washing line twine, to give that edge a smoother, sturdier look. Might have to try it on one of these.

    Absolutely love these I don't know why I never thought of it because I've actually been crocheting stuffed animals and I've been doing octopus and squids not squid I'm sorry octopus and a jellyfish and it's a similar pattern to make their long tentacles so I wonder if it'll be similar to make the wind spinners I think they're amazing

    The good thing about acrylic is that it doesn't stretch when it gets wet. (Your comment was in spam because words seems and like had a dot in between, then YT understands it as a link and automatically puts it into spam! I look at the spam folder about once a week.)

    Those are very pretty. Do you need to put something heavy in the bottom as well? Or just the string through the middle works to allow them to spin? Great job thank you!!

  • @TuulaMaaria

    @TuulaMaaria

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thank you! You don't need anything heavy in the bottom unless you hang it in a very windy place and prefer it to stay upright. Otherwise, you don't need to do anything, it spins automatically. Just sew a piece of thread to the tops of it and hang. No need to string anything in the middle. The hanging thread needs to be something that allows it to turn freely, I use grizzle sewing thread.

    Hello, I love making these. Quick question, will tying yarns together in the three double crochet row, cause it to wobble? I got half through, and lost at yarn chicken. I think I will frog it anyway. Good to know for future reference. I love all your work.Thank You. Much love to you. ( I just might finish it, and see for myself. If so, I will leave another comment.)

    You might have done something to it already - I answer comments on old videos about once a week. I wouldn't tie yarns together but just start a new one and weave the ends in, or if your yarn is quite fine, use the twist method to join kzread.info/dash/bejne/hJiO1KytnpqulMo.html

    Most of mine are about 80 cm in length but they can be almost anything, whatever fits to where you plan to hang it. Very long ones, especially if they get rain, can have the swirls open.

    Do you know if the pattern will work out right should you want to make the spinners with wider *discs* by crocheting four - five - or even six or seven stitches in each stitch ? I love this pattern when you make the SC foundation row like you do. TY so much for sharing this method with us. I will prob start using that method on all the patterns I work which call for a SC foundation. (?) Maybe it would work out for a DC foundation, too ? TY again.

  • @TuulaMaaria

    It does work with wider spirals although it then depends more on the type of yarn. Heavier yarn would make the spirals fall on top of each other. I wouldn’t use too many stitches is one stitch or it would start to go wavy and curl. 4 into a stitch in the next round. Yes, that way of starting works with double crochets, I have a video on that kzread.info/dash/bejne/l5aCvNptqLHJeNo.html Enjoy crocheting these! 😊

    You can also make a chain as long as you need and then make one row of single crochets on that. I didn't show that because I personally find the chainless foundation handier and faster!

    Yes you can, depending on how fine your thread is. If it is very fine, the spinner will of course be very small. You could triple very fine yarn with this easy tip if necessary: kzread.infom8hto-uUAhI
