How easy is it to change the default setup template? Basic sharepoint templates look very "early 2000's internet" and are long overdue for.an update from MS, but im not holding my breath. I'd also prefer to up a view for Planner plan instead of a sharepoint list

I actually did that, however I still need to work my skills on that. But so far so good my Team is super happy with it

Is there any benefit on creating SharePoint sites over creating via Teams Channel?

Interesting question for sure, as a standard Teams Channel will not create a Team Site or a separate Security Group, whereas a Private Channel does. Therefore most people create standard Channels in a Team, but in that case, they would not have a dedicated Site and Lists for that particular use, and neither would they have a separate security group which they could manage. I guess that would be my best summary for now 😀
