I love that response cause yeah apart from joking about some of the wacky choices or describing consequences for poorly thought out one's Brennan doesn't outright say "that choice sucks" in any context ive seen thus far and loves to let people try stuff, so even though it's jovial here it's extra funny to hear him flat out be like lmao that sucks 😂

what i love is that you can pinpoint the EXACT moment that emily realized no one else thought this was a good idea, then immediately doubled down to commit to the bit

It feels so in character for adaine/Siobhan to not have issues with a monstrous rat. But instead with fig trying to talk in elevish when Zane’s an elf.

Brennan making Emily describe a hot rat is the best moment in Famtasy High and perfectly exemplifies Emily trying to cause chaos and Brennan hating it but thinking it's fun to cause MORE chaos

Those moments when Brennan fully commits Emily to the consequences of her actions (Hilda Hilda's exchange with the desk sargeant resulting in a dragnet of the entire town is another example) are the absolute best parts in these shows. When he says "OK, I want you, Emily Axford, to describe this" is one of those moments you just can't help laughing at.

The thing is, I genuinely don't think she was trying to cause chaos, she was trying to move the party forward and you can see the moment she saw everyone's reaction that she's like "oh maybe this idea was a lot weirder than i thought"

Brennan wasn't disappointed at the idea of a sexy rat. He was disappointed at the expectation of a not-sexy-enough rat. Luckily for all of us, he was wrong.

I believe this scene was the moment murph came up with kugrash

The way Adaine said "Zayn is an elf you idiot!" was so perfect.

0:15 I'd like to point out that Minor Illusion (in 5e, anyway, if they're using a different system then I'm probably wrong) is, rules as written, only able to make stationary, purely visual or purely auditory illusions which lack physicality. However, the sexy rat created by Emily's character was capable of interacting with the real world, moving from its initial spot, and making noises. As such, it can only be concluded that Emily's creation of the sexy rat was blasphemous enough to prompt a minor blessing from some dark god hidden within the dark recesses of the divine sewer systems, allowing it to violate the rules of magic as a reward for fufilling their undoubtedly gross will.

There's nothing in the wording of Minor Illusion that states it's stationary. The rules only state that: - it must be either purely visual or purely auditory - be created within the 30ft range - visual illusions must be no larger than 5 feet square - auditory illusions may be no louder than a scream or softer than a whisper - interacting with a visual illusion or observing it with a DC15 investigation check breaks the illusion Moving the rat doesn't necessarily break it, but it shouldn't have made a sound. Also, Brennan, despite being a very rules-lawyery person, only abides by a couple of rules when he's DMing: Rule 0, and Nat 20's must be honored.

@@romxxii I suppose you're right that it never technically states that it has to be stationary, but going by pure rules-as-written it also says the illusion has to be an *object*, which a rat is not. And while I recognize Brennan is fine fudging rules a bit to add fun that wouldn't really bolster my comedic point, and if he can ignore spell mechanics for comedy I can ignore him ignoring it.

That’s how I always explain breaking rules for the Rule of Cool. Like, a group of archfey regularly get together to watch the adventures of mortal heroes and will occasionally reach out with their incredible power and bend the rules of reality to let the players do some really crazy-awesome shit.

One of my absolute favourite parts of this, aside from the obvious ones, is the way Zac's face just starts to go from "haha sexy lol" to "wait what the fuck" at the very last second before the cut at 0:23

This is the most chaotic moment i've ever seen, Emily describing the rat, Brennan cringing at this nightmare, Fabian screaming "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT", Riz and Kristen admitting the rat's hotness and Gorgug having no idea what's going on.

- That's a hot rat! - That is honestly a hot rat. - So, this fucking nightmare rat..

I love Murph's reaction when Emily says "sexy rat".

The end of episode 2 was when I fell in love with Dimension 20. This clip right here; This was when I knew that I was in it for the long haul.

For me , I knew Dimension 20 was going to be fun after Fig and Goldenhoard in the Teacher’s Lounge on the first day. I fell in love during the ending of Episode 2 like you did, but the battle on the road was when I knew I was in this forever.

I’ve been playing D&D since 2nd Edition AD&D, and it was like something out of a video game brought to the table. I know Matt Mercer has since done a similar encounter in Campaign 3 of Critical Role (don’t worry: no spoilers!) and it was even more crazy and intense because of an insane choice by one of the players.

Late to this party, but is no one gonna talk about the hilarity of how Brennan killed this bit? The second Ally brought up the rat one too many times, he comes out of nowhere, mid sentence with..."OWL." done

The Elvish interaction is really underrated.

Murphs pure concern when he hears his wife say "sexy rat" is the 2nd best part of this.

Fabian's reaction to the rat was honestly one of the best parts of this entire bit

I love that lou is totally into the description when it’s out of character table talk, but the second it goes back to the game world he’s fabian shouting “WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!?”

fabian is clearly freaked out about the sexy rat, which could explain why the rat appears to him in the Forest of the Nightmare King in Sophomore Year

I always had a bit of a crush on Emily.... but its moments like this that make me understand why.

A group of archfey have gathered to watch the adventures of budding heroes at Augefort’s. As they scry in on our intrepid heroes and witness the infernal abomination that is the Sexy Rat, one of them has had to much and sends an ethereal owl to carry away the offending illusion. That’s how I justify the Rule of Cool or any mistakes I make as the DM in my campaigns. Sometimes it’s archfey, sometimes it’s some of the deities, sometimes it’s infernal forces, whatever. Dragons fucking exist, sometimes a wizard can cast two spells in the same turn.
