How to Correct Shaky Video with the Stabilization Effect in Final Cut Pro X

Final Cut Pro X includes some great built-in stabilization tools, which can reduce camera motion so that they play back more smoothly. You can smooth a clip's shaky footage by correcting the stabilization, rolling shutter, or both. We'll take a look at each of these stabilization tools and go over exactly how they work.

    Hello! Thanks for the video. So, I watched this and stabilized a one take video. I just ended the color grading process and when I was about to export, I cropped (sliced, bladed, make shorter) the last part of the video. When I did that it appeared "Analyzing for dominant motion" and it automatically zooms out the whole image (I am almost sure it has something to do with stabilization). But I wanted this to be exactly as it was without the zooming out. Is there a way to do this without Final Cut Pro automatically modifying the image. I don't know if manually zooming in or exporting (which format?) and then cropping that exported video will work, but I am afraid it will loose quality. Thank you! (Hope i made myself clear.

    You might have to compound the clip before you crop it to make sure the changes to the clip are not affected. To compound a clip press Option + G or right click on the clip and press "New Compound Clip." Exporting the clip as a full video, then importing it back in to the project as a video to crop would also be a viable option.

    I bought and tried but when i added the effect, my preview was gone and turns red with yellow exclamation point. what does that mean? incompatible? I have FCP 10.5.3.
