How To Cook Rice In A Thermos With A Solar Powered Battery

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Here is how to cook rice in a thermos using electricity from a solar powered battery. Boiling water with battery power to cook rice for 20 minutes uses a lot of power, and it isn’t very efficient, so if you are using a solar powered backup battery with a power inverter to cook rice, it is a lot more efficient to boil a pot of water with a electric boiling pot, and then put the boiling water into an insulated thermos with the rice for four hours to cook, rather than keeping the water boiling with the electric battery for 20 minutes. Here are the steps you need to take if you want to cook rice in a thermos.
1. Put a cup of rice in a 24 ounce thermos, and rinse the rice a few times with cold water. You can use a strainer to keep the rice in the insulated bottle.
2. Boil 3 cups of water with your electric boiling pot, powered by solar backup battery.
3. Put one cup of boiling water in the thermos with the rice to do the final rinse, and this also heats up the thermos so it will stay hotter for a longer period of time. Put the lid on the thermos, and let it sit for a few minutes.
4. Dump the hot water out of the thermos, and then put the lid back on to keep the heat in.
5. Turn on the electric boiling pot, which now has 2 cups of water in it, and bring it to a boil again. This makes sure that you didn’t lose any heat while you were preheating the thermos.
6. Pour the 2 cups of boiling water into the thermos and immediately put the lid on.
7. Wait 4 hours for the rice to cook. That seems like a long time, but if you do this in the morning, your rice will be ready for lunch.
If you are in more of a hurry, you could boil the rice in your water pot for five minutes, and then put it in the thermos for an hour, it will be ready sooner. That speeds up the process.

Thanks!!! I just figured out how to do steel cut oatmeal in a thermos, and it comes out great as well. And uses a lot less energy than cooking it on the stove for 30 minutes.

You can make the thermos retain heat better by wrapping it in a towel.

It's just easier to use a real solar oven and cook it outside. I did that for years. No fuss no nothing.
