    Thank you so much for sharing this ! I love lima beans and I've been making these at the fire station for years. But, I never quite got that perfect flavor I wanted, even though I used the same basic recipe (minus the sugar) and I usually add diced onion and jalapeño. Can't wait to try this !

    That broth will thicken up up as they cool as well. I learned that when I was 12 and made my first pot of beans I cooked them until they were the thickness I wanted and the next day I could slight them with a knife!

    It never crossed my mind to cook frozen baby Limas the same as I cook my dried baby lima beans. I do have a handicap though because I was born and raised in Maine! Hahaha! I did live in the south though and I am going through a time when I want to eat southern foods again like beans cooked in ham hocks mashed potatoes cornbread turnip greens Etc. Baby lima beans I think of the only beings we can buy Frozen. The rest are all dry and I think I have 50 pounds of dried beans all different types!

    I just made a great big pot of navy beans with molasses and tomato sauce and a whole bunch of other stuff. I'm going to freeze some and give some away and have some tonight! I usually do my beans in the slow cooker I put them in and I turn them on at night and they're done when I get up. :-)

    Are the Ham hocks Smoked? What is weight or Size of hocks for this zpot of beans?

  • @georgiacookingforthesoul

    @georgiacookingforthesoul

    7 ай бұрын

    No, I use Cured Ham Hocks made by Lord's they are in Walmart. But smoked ham hocks will work, too. The size depends on how many beans the larger they are more flavor you will have so therefore the size don't matter much not unless you Cooking a little then get some prices of seasoned meat no hock needed.

  • @georgiacookingforthesoul

    @georgiacookingforthesoul

    about 2 hours, always check your beans or peas for softness, because they may need to cook longer or might not need to cook the whole 2 hours. Check the broth should be thick to your liking.
