How To Cook Dry Lima Beans

This Dry Lima Bean recipe is my favorite way of preparing dry lima beans. I like to have lots of juice on my beans, I understand that some people like more beans than juice, but it's the opposite for me. please enjoy the video.

i was trying to learn how to cook these types of beans and soaked a bunch last night in water for abt 24 hours then tonight have been cooking them for about 1.5 hours on medium eat but seems like its taking them too long to get soft? How long should i cook them before they get nice and soft like yours? thanks

It doesn’t take no more than 2 hours and they should be done soon. Keep in mind everyone stove cooks different. May need to increase the heat so that they can go on and cook, not simmer.

Thank you for the video. I like real videos like this, not overly produced garbage. I just wanted to know how to cook dried beans, and you are the winner for me. thanks. Do you use the ham just for flavor? I add a ham butt with the bone in, im just terrible with dried beans, I usually use the canned butter beans, but I love how you do this, so imma do it. ever try chicken stock and a little onion and garlic? Not much, just a little to kick that flavor off

Baby, I have tried all those and they taste okay, but my favorite way is to use Cured seasoned meat, a little sugar, tablespoon of oil that were used to fry chicken or pork chops it seasoned and give favor, salt to taste and that's all that's needed for me.

They don't need to be soaked, because it doesn't take long to cook. The only try bean I will say could be soaked is pinto it takes a long time to cook. If I have the time I don't like soaking any of my beans.

Looks like mush, what about nice firmly cooked beans to use in salads and to make a mayo salad with them. It's like baby food when you overcook.

I cooked my beans the way I like them, because I am the one eating them. If you have a problem with the way they are looking, then don't watch the video. It doesn't make sense to watch the video just to criticize. Go somewhere else with that not having it here.
