How To Cook Baby Back Ribs On A Pellet Grill

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

There are many different ways to cook baby back ribs on a pellet grill. Baby Back ribs are forgiving, so they are great for beginners. If you cook them a little far, you end up with fall-off-the-bone ribs. A little too far, and they will get mushy, though.
I had planned to knock these out uncovered at 250, but I started way later than I expected and had to be somewhere, so I changed plans, mid-cook. I love baby back ribs, so I'll be making some again soon!

    Love to see you pivot when it doesn’t go as originally planned. That’s more how my cooking goes. Adapt & still deliver. Good tip on the shot of rum, I’m going to steal it and use whiskey. Like the new montage stuff.

    Yeah was a quick change of plans. Didn’t want to stop the video 😁. Steal away! I’m trying to step up my video game. Had to laugh at myself. That 1:14 long video took 2 hours of video and 4 hours of editing 😂. I learned a lot though and will be able to cut it down dramatically next time. Thanks for watching!

    @@RumandCook there is huge value in seeing how to adapt when your planned cook and schedule conflicts. The editing comes through brute force learning. Keep at it.

    I just ordered my Yoder ys640s a couple days ago and am expecting it in two weeks, do you set your adjustable damper at the same setting for ribs to brisket to wings when smoking or do you change it around for smaller to bigger pieces of meat?

  • @RumandCook

    I leave it in the middle 99% of the time. I only move it all the way in when I want to sear and high heat on the left. It doesn’t have a huge impact moving it around. Enjoy!

    I’ve heard mixed reviews, does the grill run hotter to the exhaust side or the hopper side?

  • @RumandCook

    @RumandCook

    2 жыл бұрын

    It runs hotter on either side. Fire is on the left and there is a vacuum on the right as the hot air escapes. Completely normal, don’t waste time getting hung up on temps. Too many people waste time on this thinking it’s going to affect their ability to cook great food. Not true. Most smokers and grills have hot spots. People get obsessed with a pellet grill because it has a digital gauge and waste too much time worrying about it. Most ovens have a 50 degree swing and people just don’t know. You can turn out some great food, just to learn your pit, regardless of what you are using 😀

    Any reason you had the ribs on the top rack? I saw in one of your other videos that the top rack is typically cooler.

    Actually I did a testing video and the top is hotter. Was eye opening. That being said, I use the top rack to maximize smoke. Thanks for watching. 🍻

    Thank you sir. I’ve had some decent smoke flavor in ribs from the Yoder, the KK still wins though for sure. Tough to beat a Kamado unless you have a stick burner 😁. You’ll see one of those on the channel, but not sure it will arrive before Jan. I’ll be doing a pellet flavor battle soon. Trying to find the best smoke flavor. Thanks for watching!

    @@RumandCook I really appreciate you doing a pellet review on smoke flavor in the future, I just bought some jax pellets made by jealous devil, and some Mosquite pellets (b&b), the b&b are made by bbq delight, I figure try a strong flavor to see if it will produce any flavor, I have tried hickory, Jack Daniel's , and the one u used in this video, no difference. Thanks for the great videos & help, your a great bbq friend!!! Cheers, Ron!!.....ps.i have a stick burner (Lang 48 mobile), kamado or any drum smoker still beats my stick burner!!!

  • @RumandCook

    @RumandCook

    3 жыл бұрын

    No problem, I’ll see what I can figure out :) Hickory and Mesquite are going to be the most smoke flavor. Pecan and Oak are lighter. In my rib battle video I used pecan and I was pretty amazed how much smoke was from the Yoder. I’ll do some tests soon! Lang should win there, but better for long cooks. Kamado and drums can trap a lot of smoke though. All depends how much smoke you like. All good fun all the same 😁
