Hey Joseph! I've watched some videos here and managed to learn one or two things. Starlink has definitely bridged the divide for me. I had dialup until 2012, and ever since I've had fixed wireless internet. 5mbps down and 1mbps up on a lucky day, unreliable and unstable. 150gb per month data cap, 7$ autocharged for each 10gb after. My Twitch stream struggled. You bet I preordered Starlink on day 1 it was available for me to. It arrived 3 weeks ago and I've been so happy. Finally watching KZread at 1080p or even 4k, got my mom Netflix at last, I can download games. I can do my stream again. I can screen share to people. It has its problems- outages, ping spikes, questionable gaming performance now and then- but overall it's been such a massive Quality of Life improvement for someone like me - a guy who's wished for fast internet ever since I was 12, with dialup, while my cousin in Arkansas owned a dialup company and had their own T1 lines. Love your positive attitude and engagement with the Starlink community. Love from rural southern Oklahoma, Sato

This was a good video, but did not answer the question to the issue we are extremely frustrated with. My elderly dad purchased a dish and router for our off-grid ranch and received the equipment few days later. Since I live on the opposite side of the country, it took me a few weeks to get out to him to help with installation. We installed the equipment, powered it up and the dish instantly started find satellites. (Very cool and exciting!) When we tried to use the app to sync with the router, that's when we ran into issues. We could connect with router, but without internet. When it asks for email, it cannot find it. We have tried everyway to enter in the KIT number, email, etc. with no luck. We suspect they have the email incorrect. When we got back to my dad's house he pulled up his credit card information and we seen where we were charged $120 for the first month...but again, we cannot log into an account as they have the email incorrect. How do we fix this issue? We have neighbors in the area of he ranch that have Starlink and state it works well. We believe it, but for obvious reasons, we are not happy with Starlink. I have contacted the BBB in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Texas and they do not have phone numbers either. We have had one of the neighbors put in a ticket...still no response. What do we do to get this corrected?

Remember that alot of ppl using starlink are those off grid. (Like me) Solar/batteries, etc..., so a big UPS that can work till power comes back up. I recently discovered your channel, and it actually has real value. I've used the sane method you suggested, but for me, it can take hours, but still mainly takes 3 days on average. And I get weird reply from them, they don't actually answer, or go way off into a whole other topic I never even asked. For instance, I asked "i live in a very high wind location, wind soeeds can reach 75mph, so i would like to know the dish wind speed survival rating? The reply was to the effect of the starlink business plan. I almost fired back, "did you even read my question, at all!" I Also asked if they planned on making radomes. Or. What range the system workes on, so I could put a radome over it attenuated for it. The reply for that was complete nonsense. It showed that the person had almost no knowledge of radio propagation. I was told they don't use radomes, no intent on making any, that putting anything over the dish would stop the signal... I almost send a picture of one of there ground stations with radomes over them, and said that rafomes are manufactured to be radio wave blind to specific bands, and that the cover over the dishes antenna is a rafome. But I restrained myself.

Go with RV Service if you’re in a Waitlisted area. It’s available now. I got mine a week after paying for the hardware. They recently released it for all. I’m taking the chances that when priority service opens in my area that I can utilize the hardware I just bought. There is a chance that I’ll have to buy a second dish and Ritter when that happens. I cannot find a straight answer to that situation, so I did not cancel my reservation.

Thanks for the helpful advice. I learned the hard way not to send two tickets about separate issues. Response time has been very poor, but hard to complain when my previous phone company DSL never went above 3mbps download, barely capable of streaming. Waited one year for delivery in rural central Ontario Canada. Curiously, very different speed stats at night versus daytime in clear weather.

Note I did not ask for a refund, I just informed them of the problem. They have already replied to me that a refund is already on the way. IMO: You cannot ask for better service than that. Note I live in Italy and the cost here with taxes is 40 euros or about $45, This was a nice surprise. Thank You for your help, it is a little different now than in your video but it is pointed more at your given problem and easy to figure out.

I have been very happy with my Starlink thus far. Having said that, if I had issues or problems I couldn’t troubleshoot myself I would be super pissed by their ridiculous and arrogant lack of customer service. Right now they are fortunate they have no real competition given the alternatives of Viasat and Hughes net. However one day that will change and customers will leave them in droves if they don’t get their act together.

Patrick I am very happy with many aspects of SL but you have to admit, even a company in beta that is offering a product that customers pay for is capable of listening contact information if you have an issue with their product. Elon Musk is a smart man and he hired a lot of smart people to implement SL. This has to be by design and not because they can’t figure it out or afford to do it in the beta phase, IMHO.

I figured this out myself and created a ticket before I found this video. But thanks for giving me some hope that I will get my problem resolved. My problem is that I ordered the RV service without knowing that I could NOT switch back and forth from Residential To RV like you can with the Residential service. So I wanted to switch to a Residential service. But the only way I figured I could do it was to cancel my exisiting RV service. Which I just did. Then I relized there is NO WAY to reactivate it or to order Residential without ordering the equipment again. You can't like Uncheck a box or anything. Is this any way to run a company? Do you know how I do this? I do have a ticket in.

I just went through a power outage and my StarLink router wouldn’t come back up. I did the 3 unplugs several times. It worked (I think fast works best) but renamed the router to STINKY. I am at a marina and didn’t catch this until I checked the app on my phone and saw that it had connected to this router. It was easy to rename. SL really should make this easier. I used your thumbs down to send customer service a message on how to make this easier. Thanks so much for your advice!

i want thank you for this information. I just got Starlink and immediately started having connectivity issues. I had it professionally installed because of my age and physical condition. I got in touch with the installer and he had me reboot the router and a few other things. He finally had me send in a service request. I sent in the service request 3:30 this afternoon and by 5:30 this evening I had several emails from Starlink. They are already sending out a new router to me along with a full month's credit.

Thank You so so much for your coverage of this topic. I have been on the waiting with deposit for my home address since March 2021 expected now mid 2022. I watched your video on How to receive it in 12 days or less. I took a chance and ordered it for an address about 30 miles away and it arrived in 10 days. I tried to set it up in a field near my house (not the designated address) and in about 15 minutes I was up and running with a speed test of 140 Mbps and roaming was true. I have spent some time looking for customer service, customer support and nothing so your topic today was spot on. I too find it hard to believe that they make it supper easy to take your money but don’t provide a customer support button. My question is I still have a deposit for my address in the que for receiving a system for my address but since I have a system with roaming how do I move my current system to my address that will give me priority for my home cell address that currently says my cell is at capacity? Any suggestions? Thanks for the work you do in keeping us informed

Great question.. I would not want to lose Starlink to I would keep both and then if you can reset your address on the new one so that you don't get charge roaming fees, I would do that first before cancelling or returning the first order.

Hi J- Update on Starlink service. I've been on Starlink for 20 months. My brother/wife in Olympia built a new house and signed up for Starlink 8 mo or so ago, and finally rec'd the kit first of Nov. He finally finished installing a couple weeks later. Is happy with speeds/uptime, including typical Northwest drizzly weather. However, his Service experience is much different. After 2 wks in service, his system died. He was using Starlink router bypass mode, and was convinced after further testing it was a router problem. He opened a 'ticket' at Starlink, and within a day or so, they responded and stated since he was using bypass mode, they could not help him, and CLOSED HIS TICKET! He rec'd a service questionnaire a day or two later, and rated them 1 star and reamed them on the form. He almost was ready to ditch Starlink, but decided to continue to maintain contact, using your 'same ticket' suggestion. They finally Came To Their Senses, and agreed to ship him a new system. Bad News is that it would take 3wks to ship, and he'll have to rent a manlift again for a day for $400 to install the new system. Guess just replacing the router is not an option? I'll update you if he has further problems, but if he runs into this Level of problems with Starlink service again, he will probably just Drop Starlink. I may also, in protest!

I've tried the folded posted not trick. No luck. I think there may be pinched cable issue. It ran through a rear van door. However, the cable seems ok, though you can see where the door closed on it. The only other think might be seating issue...or perhaps rain intrusion into the dish connection in the tube of Rectangle dishy.

SpaceX now added the obstruction-map and statistics to their browser tool, so the Starlink app is not even needed anymore. When getting support/service from a company becomes a chore, then the company is doing a "Poor" job at it. I think that we as paying users, need to start demanding better service from these tech companies. They need phone/chat/email options, and easily accessible ones, not convoluted and more difficult to understand than Maxxwell's 4 Magnetism Equations... specially when most people are not geniuses at Math, or wizards in navigating purposedly difficult and obscured options, and before I forget, to be forced to have to read thousands of lines of help stuff and FAQ's not related to what my question or problem is about.

I must fervently disagree that Starlink Technical Support is responsive to support tickets. Here's my story. My main residence is in Scottsdale (AZ). I ordered my Starlink unit last year with the intention of using it in a small town in Wyoming (not sure what the policy may be now, but at the time Starlink was only provisioning service in rural areas). After Starlink got through it's dish technical issues that it was experiencing last Fall which caused a delay in shipping my unit to me, I finally received my unit at the end of last year at my Scottsdale (AZ) residence. However, for those who don't know, a Starlink unit must register itself for the 1st time on the system which can only be performed in the geo-locked location it was ordered for. Once that's done, you can then use the roam feature, for example. I've paid a total of $1,300 for both the monthly subscription, and the roam feature when it launched (was unaware at the time that, even with the roam feature added, the unit must register itself on the system for the 1st time in the geo-locked location; I learned that via a support ticket), and I finally made it up to Wyoming this week so that I could get the unit to register itself with the system. I set the dish outside, powered up the unit, and invoked "Unstow" from the app. The dish turned to the sky and did some slight rotational and tilt gimbal adjustments, apparently locking onto a satellite. I've also performed the visibility scan using the app and it reports that it is sitting in an "excellent location." The app displays two alerts that the unit's firmware (they refer to it as "software," but technically it's "firmware") is out of date and needs to be updated. And, by the verbiage in the app, implies that it can require overnight to update its firmware, and may be done by 3am (go figure that logic 🤔). I've left the unit on and it will not update the firmware (at least, the two alerts won't go away, and I've also unplugged the unit and plugged it back in, just in case it did download and install the update, but requires a hard boot). Also, the alerts don't state that the updates are required to receive Internet service, they only state that, until the updates are applied, Internet service may be slow. Regardless, the unit will not provision any Internet for me, so apparently, and for whatever reason, it has been programmed not to provision even slow Internet, until the firmware update(s) is applied. I opened a support ticket three (3) days ago re my issue. And, since that time I have added five (5) updates to the open support ticket as I've continued to try and troubleshoot the unit, and have yet to receive one (1) response from Starlink Tech Support. I have to leave Wyoming early next week and will not have another opportunity to get the unit registered on the system until I can make it back to Wyoming. So, at least in my 1st-hand experience, Starlink Technical Support is not responsive to support tickets.

It's funny.. I just called them out on that and got the same BOILERPLATE copy/paste response back after 5 days... Sadly, they have serious customer service work to do.

For the past couple of days I've been trying to submit a support ticket -- app indicates error, web is non-responsive. Also the add to existing ticket no longer seems to be an option.

My order is pending. When I go to my account and support there are no thumbs up or down. Can you only create a ticket if you are a current user?

been a week and still no response. I use starlink at my farm house only used it twice, the second time last weekend it says I am not at my registered location. When I check the dot that shows location is in my front pasture about 200 feet from the house. Do i need to change the market dot and update location to the house that it is located? It is taken down and not running while we are away. Will be back this weekend but do not want to change something and it not work when we get there this weekend. Anybody have idea, as tickets are not being answer and so far been 5 days and would like to go ahead and do the changes before we get there if that is the issue. Because if it does not work we have no cell service nothing for backup.

For the input I’ve gotten, it’s current not the best thing to take it down and set it up again in the same place unless imperative. I’ve heard people having their service turn off by doing that. Not to worry you but something to keep in mind.

The option to choose thumbs up or down after a support topic is no longer a option as of June, 7th 2022. Does anyone know how to contact support now that this has been taken down?

A never ending saga. Starlink needs a 24/7 support line or at least a 24/7 online technical support.

JChristina question ? I ordered a standard version of Starlink..its been 6 months. got an account number & the app shows my $99.00 deposit. I recently ordered the RV version & I have received my order, set it up & its working great. They have setup an auto pay for the $150.00 per month charge. I have questions & can not get to anyone by email, text or on phone. What would you suggest as my next step. TY Mike

West Maui relying heavily on Starlink. Still minimal cellular let alone cellular internet. No cable/fiber optic internet. Starlink satellite saves the day. Satellite helped after 9/11 attack trade towers, Iridium. Power, internet, and cellular went down before the Lahaina fire. Satellite is a great backup for alerts, emergency texting, and eventually cellular satellite voice connection. No more lost planes. The internet runs everything including sirens. Satellites are the future

Very difficult for satellite startup. Even Musk holding off offering IPO as difficult to start this type of company. It helps owning his own rockets

Hello JCristina. Please do you have a new way of contacting Starlink as of May 2023? I stumbled on your video after tireless nights of trying to contact Starlink. When I got to their support page to look for the like or dislike button as recommended via your video, I noticed it's not there again. Please any help? Thanks

Great video. But an update as of Feb 23 - Starlink now closes tickets and you are unable to ask another question on a previous ticket. Thanks for the tip on finding out how to start a ticket - very frustrating. I have been out of service for over 2 months, with a new router and cable sent, to no avail. Then they sent a completly new kit and that does not work. I go through the whole setup and the final result is always the same - "Disconnected - please make sure system is plugged in". Ugh! They have one more chance to contact me, then it's all going back.
