How to Connect Pioneer Style Implements to Old Style John Deere Rear Remote SCVs

John Deere farm tractors built in the 1970s and 1980s were built with a rear remote quick coupler style that isn't used anymore with farm implements. Today, most implements use the ISO standard Pioneer style quick couplers. To identify the style of rear remotes you have on your John Deere tractor, take a look inside the rear remote coupler on the back of your tractor. There will be a curved piece of metal in the shape of a crescent moon at the way back of the rear remote if you have the John Deere old style (some call it a cone style), and the inner sides of the coupler will slope inward slightly, like a cone. Be aware that some tractors that were originally built with the old style rear remotes have since been permanently converted over to the Pioneer style using John Deere rear remote converter kit part number RE206778. If there is a ball instead of the crescent moon shaped piece of metal in the back of the rear remote, then your tractor has the Pioneer style rear remotes. The tractor part explained in this video replaces John Deere part number AR98201. The Pioneer part number is 4060-4.

That’s exactly what we done on our 4 wheel drive 8340 rather than switch out the whole thing, works great!

Good video, thanks for shedding some light on this subject, I am adding a hydraulic top link to my 2240 and ran into a couple of issues that you helped me with. I really like your laid back style and delivery, keep up the good work.

Thanks great video . My 2510 has the old style also . Once you put the adapter in how do you remove it if you want to take it out ? And do you sell these adapters ?

To remove, you turn the lever to off ( back) to stop oil flow, and pull back on the adapter piece. It will pop out pretty easily.
