@colorwithkurt

Practice! The one thing I'd change here, is you can merge the mask down at the end if you just want one layer with the lines on a transparent layer -- wish I had thought of that before...haha...
And then should try to merge layer Hold and mask, even better 😊

Thank you, this was very helpful. Are you aware of any way you can darken/clean up scanned line art in procreate? My scanned black lines look a little transparent and not as solid as I would like. I know it can be done in Photoshop.
Love your videos. Is this to change the color of the “lines” themselves ie the black lines, or the art within the lines ie the color of the dress, the color of the table, etc etc ?

I am so bummed! This looked so easy and was explained so well and yet it just doesn't work! Is it possible that this is done on an old version of procreate? Everything looks the same on mine exept for the layout of the copy window that shows up when I swipe 3 fingers.

Set the mode of the line art layer to Multiply and color underneath would be quickest.
Any tips for how to do this on ibis paint also nice coloring

Sorry, I'm unfamiliar with that app.
Quick question, kinda off topic. O and your awesome. When flatting and coloring for myself ,I color the background flats on one later and put the people flats on another (above the background) when I get to the coloring and rendering it’s just easier for me to control. My question is this. Is this common or am I simply just wasting time. The flatting and coloring process doesn’t take any longer but the background and people are split into different layers besides 1. Thank you in advance.

Probably called holds for ‘hold out mattes’ like in old school Video FX
How do I color the white part and not the lines ? I want to color mangas or comics but the white part isn’t transparent
Can you colour an imported transparent PNG (black line art) in procreate.
@colorwithkurt
2 жыл бұрын
Yep.
Omggggggg why didn’t i think of changing the line art that way before 😂😂😂 I’ve been selecting the lineart layer and use air brush to change its color. *facepalm*
Does anyone know how to do this but on procreate pocket?
I need to know how to colour scanned in inks? Is there a way to take all those black lines and separate them from the white spaces? 😩
@colorwithkurt
Жыл бұрын
Click the N on the layer with your inks. Setting the blending mode of the layer with your inks to Multiply is the simplest way. You can color under it since that mode hides the white. You can also put the inks on a transparent layer. It's a few steps in Procreate. kzread.info/dash/bejne/X6amsc6tj9nAaMo.html
It’s not letting me color inside the line art 🤷🏻♀️
3:00
I did all these steps and it’s working for me the only problem is that it won’t let me choose a color that’s not in the black to white spectrum I’m really confused
Just put a clipping mask above the line art
@colorwithkurt

That works if the lines are drawn on a transparent layer, but not a scanned drawing with paper.
How do you color someone else-s lineart. Like a collab

Ask them. :)
I’m getting no joy when I try this using a scan/photo of my drawings. I’m guessing because my whites aren’t really white (no matter how much I adjust first). Any ideas?
@colorwithkurt
9 ай бұрын
Find a good tutorial on using Curves adjustments. I like Piximperfect myself. You'll want to push all the bright values to white and probably darken the lines while leveling away some of the sketchy stuff. That probably sounds like Greek to start but it's pretty simple once you get the basics.

Another thing you can do is import the drawing into Medibang paint and extract the lineart, then export it back to procreate as a transparent png file
@phil40s

I prefer to stay in procreate as well, so I do the Medibang paint trick before I start coloring. I’m currently taking your courses and I’ve done this trick with some of the tiff files so I can work in procreate even though your showing it in photoshop. BTW I love your courses!
it didn’t work
i cant seem to paste anything into or onto the mask, has procreate updated to take away this capability? nooooo
