How to Color Pastelmat with Ink & Preserving Tooth of Paper

In this video I share with you my discovery of coloring pastelmat with Ink. This preserves the tooth of the paper while giving your background and new look. This opens so many new doors and you no longer have to worry about the limited number of colors that Pastelmat comes in or loosing the tooth of your paper by creating backgrounds in other mediums.

I use watercolor like this. Especially with white pastelmat. The Halloween picture I made last year, was done this way, only that I used watercolor, not ink. But the result is the same :) I love how versatile Pastelmat is as painting surface!

What a great idea for when you want black!! I wonder if masking film would protect an area. It might still allow the ink to run underneath it. Have you tried that?

Thanks so much. I have not tried that but this paper does tend to feather fluid so I don’t believe it will keep a crisp line like it does with pastels due to the texture of the paper. It would feather under it.
