How to Color Dark Skin in Prismacolor Pencils - Adult Coloring Tutorial

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hi!
I know that dark skin is one of the harder skin tones to get right, so in this video I'm going to show you how I colour a dark skin tone. It's a whole face in under forty minutes! Hopefully the combo will be helpful for any colourist at any skill level, and will inspire you to diversify your portrait colouring. I'm using a mixture of Prismas and Luminance pencils.
I have to thank the amazing Amberle Silencia for inspiring this colour combo so please check out her channel!

Uhh, thank you so much for the mention! I'm just starting to watch your video! Your skin tone looks fabulous, so it will be very interesting to learn another combo! Thank you for sharing! I also enjoyed your red hair combo with Polys this morning! I love Polys for hair.

My pleasure Amberle! It was the least I could do as this is totally inspired by your combo. I hope you find my tweaks interesting. Polys are one of my favourites for realistic hair too!

I seriously recommend investing in a Buff Titanium pencil. Otherwise you have to use a mixture of white and cream, which isn't exactly the same colour

Oh, I think I can actually do this, I always end up with ashy dark skin and my highlights look like exposed bone 🥲

I hope it goes well! The ashy look might be coming from using too much greys/blues, which aren't prominent in dark skin. As for highlights they should not be white (at least not usually), which is why I use more peachy colours. Experiment and see what works for you!
