Thanks for the video. Since this video have you tried it with a pickling vineagar, they are usually 8 - 9% acidity?

  • @ColoradoGoldCamp

Yes. Higher the acidity, the faster and better it will clean!

Sorry, I know this is an old video, but what about using hydrochloric acid? I haven't found any nugs, but sometimes I find rusty looking flakes and use the acid to clean.

Absolutely, many kinds of acids will work. I was focusing on household cleaners. The best is actually hydrofl, I won't even say it because it is so extremely dangerous to handle.

On one of your smaller nuggets try replacing the vinegar with nitric acid. But don't let it soak for days or you will be sad.

Nice! This method will brighten up your gold nicely. The longer you shake the nug in salt n vinegar the shinier it will get. Finish off with a toothbrush or rub in banking soda.

@@ColoradoGoldCamp Awesome thank you after further examination the nugget is pretty bright compared to others I've seen. I just started buying bullion 2 weeks ago and also got 1oz, 2gs of silver and 1 pound copper ingot. Thanks for the video and reply

Have you tried putting the baking soda in together with the salt? I use a 50/50 mixture as a scrub in the sauna, much better than only salt. Oh, but soda and vinegar react...

  • @ColoradoGoldCamp

It does help for the final scrub thanks. They do react!..volcano! I have worked up two new concoctions but this first method seems to work pretty well.

Watching you try to cap the volcano could be interesting! Baking soda plus vinegar is a great natural (i.e., eco) way to clear clogged drains - just have to immediately cap the drain. Perhaps this might help get deeper into the crevices on the gold's surface?
