How to Clean a Sanke Keg
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Here's how I clean my Sanke Kegs. I use this method, then once every five or so uses I take out the spear and visually inspect after cleaning to verify it's all good.

After the fact and taking out a few spears, I need to mention that you need to have good and hot PBW mixture for it to clean well. Also, I don't think the riptide cuts it with respect to pressure. An immersion pump or something a bit more powerful is needed to actually clean the keg. If the sides and top aren't getting hot during cleaning, then you may need to use kind of the same method, but fill up completely with pbw/sanitizer and soak.

Do you have any particular pump recommendations that would cut it? I'm a complete newb

@@PaoloNovaro I've since switched to just taking out the spear every time I clean the kegs. A sump pump or submersible pump from Princess Auto (Canada) or maybe Harbor Freight might do it. The submersible I have is 3/4hp and it seems to do an ok job, but I'm not sure the food safety aspect of it (falling apart eventually and bringing plastic into the keg)
Yep,that's efficiency
If I were to pick one thing I dislike about home brewing, it’s cleaning kegs and kettles. I like this approach. Simple. I might try it out.

It works well with a strong pump, but I realized after the fact that I just don't think the riptide or pump like it will do the trick. Go with a decent strong immersion pump, or remove the spear and a bucket blaster style cleaning works well. Cheers!
Useful video! Used to have a Sanke sixtel and it was definitely tougher to clean at first than corny kegs

I still want to work on making it easier, but that's what I'm going with for now. Cheers!
Thanks for this quick format information. That’s seems totally doable. 🍺

It's not too bad. I just need a new piece of wood. The old one was left outside in the rain and that isn't so good for MDF or being sanitary... Cheers!
Nice video sir! I really need to make a keg cleaner now! Thanks for some ideas!

I put a line on my gas side going into the bucket. Less of a mess

Congrats, you're the first person to put heart eyes and muscles on the channel!
I have a sankey keg coupler but I have no idea what you did to it to make it release water from the c02 side. Do I just need to remove the white plastic piece that sits in the middle of the probe? I can't pull my probe completely out for some reason.

Yep, just remove and save the white plastic piece. It just makes the flow one way and needs to be removed to drain. Cheers!
After using both Corny and Sanke kegs, do you prefer one over the other? Or maybe you just prefer the one which has the most beer 🤩

Corny for the homebrew side for sure. Easier to clean and all the attachments available. Sanke kegs seem to flow better (I've never had one clog up), and if you're going through beer quickly they connect faster for changing them. I'm hoping to one day sell the beer, so that's the main reason I have a sanke setup. Cheers!

Why do you use Sanki kegs? The standard home brew keg in NZ is 19L corny.

I'm using all types. I got a bunch of them for a pretty good price from a local brewery. Cheers!
