Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Taylor continues one handed assembly of the shortblock. We go through opening up the oil passage on the bearings, installing the crank, assembling the camshaft and setting its endplay, and mating the case halves together.

Watching you do all this with one good hand is both frustrating and inspiring. I'm sure you understand the frustrating side of that coin.

Excellent build video. A tip for ensuring the crank is seated in the case is to place the other split bearing over the journal and confirming there is no rocking movement. I also use Curil T but I've never heard of RTV causing case clearance issues. The reason I've always avoided rtv is the risk of blocking the oil screen pickup when blobs work loose.

I am finding these videos very informative and well explained. It must be awful just having the use of one hand. Thanks.

How did you put the top case half on without dropping a lifter or using the funky wire lifter holders and with 1 hand 😂 , mad skills bro ! Have you ever tried using double thrust cam bearings ? I have a few boxes of cam bearings missing the thrust bearings , now they sell double thrust bearing sets for a few dollars more . I definitely recommend double thrust cam bearing setup . Good video 👍

Really sticky assembly lube 😂 I have not tried doubles, personally not think it’s necessary for stock engines and I do not currently have a cutter to set the case up for doubles. Thanks for watching!

@@wickedwerks Gotcha ! I just found you on youtube , didn't hear what size the engine is . I really like the Veedub engine and my go to engine is 1835 with dual carbs , so I like tweaking things whenever possible 😂 . Keep building brother !

Can’t remember which hand was wrapped up at the time of filming. I had back to back hand injuries started New Year’s Eve 2022. Had a piece of Bus go through my right hand, then a few days after the stitches came out of that, a window fell on my left hand and broken my middle finger. Solid start to the year 😂

@@wickedwerks yeah I saw the left hand wrapped up, wow but I know you can never be too careful and I think we are all guilty of not being safety enough I believe because we are all too impatient and want to see the job finished, and think the world indoctrinates us to do quick quick hurry up mentally no good, and it does rub off on us. So take care God bless😊😊

My dad used High Tack sealer to seal the two case halves. What do you think about using High Tack? Will it cause a problem in the future?

Ok, now here's my question. Can you do a type 4 build or is it similar enough to where this would apply? Built plenty of V8s built recently scored a 2.0 914 engine, almost complete and turning...from the local scrap yard...for $40. Before anyone blurts out an offer, I have a beetle with no engine, so it's going in there.

I think I saw your post on Reddit earlier looking for info. I’ve never built a T4 and there is some slightly different bits here and there but it’s basically the same design. I would get a good Bentley manual and maybe do a search on the samba for first time building tips!

Look for the Jake Raby T4 video - believe it is still available to order online. An absolute must for anyone building a T4 engine. Also check out Ian Karr's video series on youtube. He does a complete 2.0 T4 rebuild using all of Jakes techniques.

@@wickedwerks actually no, not on Reddit. I think I can figure it out. My beetle and engine has been sitting in a sea container for over a year waiting for me to get the time to mess with it. It's a pretty roachy 54. I saw your oval up for sale (before you got it) and seriously considered picking it up, but it's been a busy year and life got in the way of buying more cars.
