Carer's Allowance can typically be backdated for a maximum of 3 months from the date you apply. Since you applied on April 27, 2024, any eligible payments would go back to January 27, 2024, at most. Contact the Carer's Allowance Service and explain that your child receives a qualifying disability benefit from before January 27, 2024, and you believe you should be eligible for backdated Carer's Allowance for that period.

Can a uk national living abroad apply for child benefit

  • @UKknowledgeGuru

Generally, a UK national living abroad wouldn't be eligible for Child Benefit unless they fall under specific exceptions. Exceptions for Eligibility: Crown Servants: UK government civil servants or armed forces personnel working abroad can claim Child Benefit regardless of their child's location (previously living in the UK is a requirement). Temporary Absence: If you're abroad temporarily (less than a year) and ordinarily reside in the UK, you might be eligible for Child Benefit while your child stays in the UK. Specific Agreements: The UK has agreements with some countries that might allow you to claim Child Benefit or a similar benefit in that country (www.gov.uk/child-benefit-abroad).
