One side note with the snap tarps. If you look at them you will see a t on one side. Takes time but you can slide every snap off flip them around and will allow for a better fit for the seasons. Also if you notice truck hero owns alot of things. From extang, undercover and bak to husky, Are, nfab and rough country of I rememer right.

First let me say I appreciate what y’all are doing with both AT and AM thank you now my question is I have a 2002 f150 crew I understand it has age on it but it has been really good to me and I’m trying to return the favor but it is hard to find aftermarket parts for her like a good hard top cover do you have any suggestions of how I can get what I need for her?

Texas Singh I brought a rough country tri fold hard cover and had to send it back because it vibrates/ shakes to much when I’m driving and it was properly installed?...does the flex tonneau shakes or makes noises when installed?
You don't need a knife to open a snap on cover... Simply un-snap it!

I had a Undercover hard cover on my F150 for 8 years. It was flawless. Try having a guy or two stand on these covers. The Undercover can hold multiple standing on it. The only downside, as you mentioned, is you need to think in advance if you need to haul something big. I used to take mine off by myself before hauling dirt bikes. It was easy.
Will definitely be getting the trifold over the others. IMO it’s the only one without any real cons, because in my experience if you need the whole bed above the top of the box then your vision through the back window is already gone, and at that point the cover is now protecting your window from something sliding forward and smashing it. Example being loading a quad, I’ve seen many a rear window bite the dust when one crashed into the glass, but the cover would prevent that from happening.

Didnt really think about it till now but you're right with the visibility part being gone if you have something youre moving sitting taller than the bed rails.

The con is that you can't see out your back window when you have something in the bed and it's blocking the rear window completely.

If you're not too limited on your budget then you may want to check out Diamondbackcovers.com, especially if loading/hauling an ATV, a SxS, or other heavy materials on top of your cover. Their HD model holds up to 1600lbs, plus they have two different styles of cab guards or a headache rack for rear window protection. Just about every component comes with a limited lifetime warranty - for the original owner - but the black coating has a 3 year warranty if you choose that option. And the best part...they are crafted and built in the USA!!

The BIG Con is that the Tri-Fold design is the one design for which you cannot then add a Bed Rack. So a HUGE con for many of us.

But if something slams into your cover vs. the window, wouldn't it damage the cover? Given the cover is $800, might be better to break the window.
I've had a Truxedo TruxPort for about 10 years on my Ranger Edge that is held in place with Velcro on both sides of the bed. It is going with my truck when I sell it and still looks good with no tears and works fine. No snaps and the tensioner keeps it tight hot or cold. It has been garaged about 50% of the time. Will be adding one to my new Ranger. No one has ever cut it to look at what I have under it but it keeps items covered and dry when it is needed. Practical and inexpensive for my needs and saves fuel.

The Peragon looks to be the best folding option I have seen. Haven’t used one yet but the ease of removal and not blocking your back window makes it a lot more appealing than a Tri-fold and for the same price.
I live in the north in BC Canada. I had a tri fold on my F 150. It was nice for security and keeping things safe and dry. The problem I have and you didn't mention with all of the one the had the rubber part that runs along the top of the box. Mine would freeze and get stuck. I have had 3 out of the 5 styles you talked about over the years. Foe me it's a canapy for where I live in the winter. Good video overall.
I’ve owned the hard tonneau undercover 10 years previous truck, great cover as mentioned if you plan to leave on the truck, although it’s a two person job getting it on or off, my wife did not enjoy helping either! lol
very useful video, my previous trucks all were used and came with covers I kept using. This is my first foray into picking out a cover myself and this video helped. thanks.

Excellent video. I ordered a hard tri-fold cover today.
Hey, nice young man, you forgot the problem for those of us in the rain, until just at the end. The only cover that works against water, mildew, dampness; tonneau hard cover. It looks like the barricade may solve the rain issue-but for it’s main limitation of lost usage due to stowage.
Excellent rundown on available options!

I have a soft tri fold tonneau on my Raptor, I use mine to cut down on the air drag in the bed, and to keep the groceries dry. I don't keep anything in my bed that is going to make a thief happy, unless they like reusable shopping bags. 🤣 Eventually at some point I want to get a hard shell Leer topper so that I can make it more camper friendly until I find the right pull behind camper. Great reviews though, thanks as always. Appreciate you!

Does your mileage actually improve? You might want to try it without.
One con with the retractable cover is cold climates where ice forms. Unless it's rolled up completely dry, ice inevitably forms in the box and jams it all up.
I just bought a 2022 F150 super cab and I deafly like the trifold cover and I’m most likely going to buy it
The BakFlip MX4 (Tri-Fold) allows you to shut the tail gate before closing bed cover....OR after closing the bed cover...it doesn't matter. Very nice feature!

BackFlip is highly vulnerable to hail damage, have had damage to 2 of them. Pretty expensive cover to look that bad from small hail storm.
Undercover se is still the king. I have a painted lux version of the SE and loving it still. And I agree with the con for large item. However, the SE is very strong, you can walk over it or even haul an ATV on it. So you can strap down large item over it
We always use a soft rolling cover from truxedo. It keeps stuff protected from rain and flying out in the wind. It also rolls completely out of the way allowing use of the whole bed.

Another thing and a reason I went with the soft cover for my racetruck is weight. I wanted a cover but didn't want to add alot of weight. My trifold on my platinum is heavy but awesome! the soft cover only weighs about 10 lbs... just something else to think about. Great video
Do Camper Shells next!
Thanks for the great video. On the second cover, can you drive with it folded all the way up safely?
great video - thx! does there rolling cover come off easily for storage etc?
I have the rolling hard cover on my ram, it's pricy but it's one of the only upgrades i've done on my truck and it was worth it
Do any of these covers work around racks such as THULE® Ladder Rack or any other brands?
Will a bed liner interfere with installing any of these?
Please post size tire and wheel size! Also do you have a link to those specific wheels. LOVE how this truck looks.
Had an undercover 1piece on my Titan, had it put on to go on a trip. Drove from Pa to Tennessee. By the time I got there the cover rubbed the paint off on the bedside. Then 3 times in the next 10 years had the rivets pop. I fixed it twice the third time I scraped it. Will never buy another!
Excellent info. Great production. Well laid out. Great f*@$&ng video dude. thanks for doing this for us

How about a video detailing tool boxes and cover combinations?
Very good and informative video. I will have a new F150 soon so this was very interesting. The 3 piece one is my favorite so far.
I like the barricade that retracts in its own box. If I still had a truck or get another truck I would get that one or perhapd the trifold.
Great info thanks! I’ve been told to avoid retractable covers because they can get off track or crooked and messed up but I think it’s the best option for me because of easy acres and room for my fifth wheel hitch! Is it something I need to worry about?

With the last bed cover you showed, if perhaps you will be hauling stuff for a while how do you remove it ( video ) or do you have to take it in shop to be removed. Thanks
Question, I see a lot of 5'5" or 5'7", I measured the from back window to end of door (5'10"). Do I need a cover top that is 5'10 or does the 5'7" work if I want to make sure my stuff is secured when I lock the door?
what do you think of the agricover "Adarac Aluminum pro series" ladder rack combined with the bakflip hard folding sectional cover?
with this covers can you install a ruck for ladders too?
I like your videos , very informative and direct

I would like to see the Xceed from Extang in your video. Note: The Undercover has pull straps where thieves can break into by using a coat hanger. I bought an Extant Xceed cover and am happy with it!
Are there any good covers along the lines of the retractable cover that would work with a tool box as well, or can you modify that retractable one to fit infront of the box?

Extang makes a few tool box compatible options that you can find on our site! -Justin www.americantrucks.com/extang-solid-fold-20-toolbox-tonneau-cover-1518-w-65-ft-8-ft-bed.html
If you are hauling something in the back and it slides forward and hits the rolled up cover, you’re screwed. It will bend it
I like the barricade slide. Do you if it has leaking issues
Wish they would make one for the older small pick ups. I have a 2011 Ford Ranger. I would love to have a hard cover to keep the snow out of the bed and keep things clean looking.
Very well done!
Great review. Thanks.
Great reviews. What are a few you'd recommend for an 8 ft bed?
I'm looking to replace my Bak G2 cover since it has started to fall apart and warp. I considering that retractable but its size when closed is a bit of a con. That 4 fold may just be the best option afterall although it is plastic and will most likely fade after a a couple years like my Bak did. Truck is outdoors year around.
Hello. Would the barricade pass the Stanley knife through the slot test? There's a video of a mountain top roller getting opened by cutting the rubber that holds the slats together.
Personally I like the soft roll up covers. They don't show it in the video since it's really similar to the first one. But I don't keep stuff back there, at least not long enough to worry about. And it's pretty out of the way when rolled up. Velcro to put down easy. Bars under it for support of light ish stuff. If you put a plank of wood up there you can hold all kinds of things when tied down.
Great review!
I just installed the GMC “REV” branded BakFlip Revolver X2 on my 2500HD; snagged it for $866 shipped to my dealer. I definitely don’t expect it to be as strong and certainly not as weather proof as a hard cover (or cap), but it’s a good compromise between accessibility, looks, and ease of use.

Does it shake or vibrates when u drive
Take a look at the WeatherTech. Its made by Lomax who sells it for a bit cheaper. Almost flush with the bed rail, trifold aluminum but it has another quick release under the front panel. Pull that and the whole thing comes off in a few seconds.

Believe the soft roll-up cover best suits me doesn't take away from your bed and doesn't cover your back glass

Great video! Thank you for posting.
Have you looked at the Diamondback and or Renegade covers. Which one did you like
Are the tonneau covers water proof or do you need to drill drain holes?
How does the Hard Roll Up compare to Hard tri-fold durability wise? Would you say Hard Tri-fold would be a better choice for durability?
With the last cover, all you'll need is a few ratchet straps and you'll be good to go. I've had it on my '15 for 2 year's now and have strapped all types of building material's to it, as well as dressers and it's still solid. Only thing he did not mention is that if you have a feature on your truck to where you can pop your tailgate from your keyless entry or from your key fob, the edge of the cover wrap's over the edge of the tailgate, so that'll be a no go.
Have a question for the trifold and the hinged can you drive the truck either the cover up just curious
Paragon cover review would be interesting.
great video! off topic but whats the wheel set up on that stx? 👌
Diamondback cover is the best. I’ve had it on my 2013 F150. The cover is bullet proof

I second that.
I personally have the Bakflip F1 trifold tonneau for my 2018 F150 Platinum. Went with this particular one because you can open and close it without opening the tailgate. Hands down the BEST tri fold cover (also FRP).

The Extang Classic Platinum and similar Black Max where sadly both discontinued. A shame because they were reasonably priced, durable, I had one for 10 years and it was still nice. The best thing was they were 99% water tight unlike many of the very costly products on the market now.
I love the barricade! I wunderbar if you can get it for raptor gen 1 and in germany too

Hi Just want ask do you guys have the Diamondback tonneau covers? To fit a ram 2500hd 6.4 bed
I was curious I just purchased a truck it is one of those hydraulic hardcover hardcovers that only opens halfway.. The cover itself has a lock with the key however E however what kind of piece do I need or part number to hook up to the truck so I can actually lock my truck cover
Any problems with water getting into the bed with any of these?
Undercover elite..looks awesome
Great video! Now can you please demonstrate loading a garage sale couch in that bed? ;)
On the hard cover...Do you have to open the top to lower the tail gate? It looks like it would be in the way.
Thanks that helps alot.

Nice review
The solid cover was great back in the day before locking tailgates because you couldn't open the tailgate but with new locking tailgates the tri-fold and rolling are better for security. The locks on the solid covers are very much for show, just push up and it will pop open. Because they overhang, there is plenty of a lip to get your palm under to push it up...now let's be honest, getting the stuff out of sight is the biggest deal because no criminal is going to go and pop open every cover in a parking lot. The retractable cover is definitely the most secure, that seems like it would be pretty hard to break into, I wanted that but I frequently use the whole bed under my trifold. One nice thing about that is sometime you can open it all the way then let it rest on what you're hauling instead of blocking the back glass. Great video btw, lots of options out there and not a lot of side-by-side comparisons.

You cannont get the solid cover up on mine at all. Tail gate won't drop if you set the latch height correctly.
@BMack37

@@therealpimpskillet you don't need to drop the tailgate. You just grab the overhanging lip of the cover with your palm and push up.
Should have thrown in one or two of those truck bed toppers that make it look like an excursion
What about Rigid X10 ?? IS the same brand of EXTANG?
I’m looking to buy one soon.. with my truck being a step side does that matter any? 1999 f150
All have there perks and there down sides i've had a cheap soft roller in the past and hate having very little security along with my tailgate didn't lock on my 2011 tacoma at all but don't want the storage in my bed to take a hit either and still want to maintain vizibility. Im planning on buying the Sentry Tonneau cover from Truxedo for my 2018 F150 for best of everything except you loose the ability to open it half way. Just need to get the wife on board and get the price right like the 15-20% sales that come this time of year right after tax season is over.
Great comparisons.

is there a tri fold that can open near the window to access internal tool boxes?
Hey Justin, You mention you've put the trifold hard covers on your last two trucks. Any issues with leaking in your experience? I've been shopping these for a couple of weeks. Half the reviews are 5/5 starts and the other half are less than amazing due to leaking issues. Wondering if this is an installation issue or just an overall product issue. Thanks!
