It seems that a lot of people worry about finding glasses for your face shape. But in fact, glasses and face shape do not play a huge role in finding the best eyeglasses for you. However, it is an easy way to start.
When it comes to the best glasses for face shape, the key is to select glasses that have the opposite features to your face shape. So if you are looking for glasses for a round face, finding eyeglasses that have more angles and a boxy style appearance will work better. While if you are looking for glasses for a square face, round glasses or something with a round shape will better compliment your facial features.
If you are looking for glasses for an oval face, thankfully almost any glasses frame should work.

*PRO TIP*
No matter where you buy your glasses it is always best to have them professionally adjusted to improve their fit and comfort. It will help you see better too.
If you are looking to purchase online glasses, it is important to continue seeing your eye doctor yearly for eye health evaluations. Although you may be seeing well, many eye diseases may creep up without affecting your eyesight until it's too late.

Can you please do another video on Abbe value and lens materials? I went to a new eye clinic and picked CR39 with anti-reflective coating on both sides, they're really nice glasses. I'm not a fan of polycarbonate. The lens material makes a huge difference.

The facial width and nose bridge shape are very important points and especially for people with very large or very small skulls this can mean the difference between a pair of glasses that fit and a pair of glasses that don't fit. The other major factor in latitudes with temperature extremes like the Northern US is metal frames expand and contract with temperature. This can cause most metal glasses to need adjustment to account for the change in size of the metal frames.

I just recently learned about these numbers myself. It was never really important to know what they meant in the past because when trying on glasses in person I can instantly tell what looks good and what doesn’t. Now that I have started buying glasses online however the numbers have become VERY important and this is because you have no way to know what size the frames are in relation to your face without these numbers. Of course it still doesn’t help much if they don’t have your size. My face is very narrow at the temples which means I look best in small frames but nearly all the frames you find online these days are medium to large which really limits my choices. By the way, what he said about adding the numbers together to get the overall width of the frames obviously does not work with wraparound sunglasses. For example, 62mm wide lenses on wraparounds might work out to the same overall frame width as a regular pair of glasses with 52mm lenses.
To discover your facial shape, stand in front of the mirror & draw the outline carefully with a bar of soap or lipstick/gloss. Thank you for the great info!!

@@DoctorEyeHealth I actually do have a question! Though I have new glasses arriving shortly, I’d still like to know how do I properly clean my glasses at home? Mostly, I’m talking about around the lenses as this is where there is so much gunk: oil, dead skin etc! 🤢 Due to lockdown here in England my opticians have only been seeing those with urgent needs and therefore I couldn’t go in to have them done. I also forgot to ask when I went in for my test yesterday. It is so bad but I became desperate and took a hair clip to try and scrape the edges however, it’s still bad, agitating me knowing I’m putting on dirty glasses. I know if I continue to try and do this I will just scratch the glasses. Is there any special tools that I can buy or tips at home I can try? Thank you

I must start by saying I love your videos, they have helped me so much! Now for my comment. I have never seen glasses that are wide enough for my temple width. Either stores don't carry them (which is generally the case) or they don't exist. The ones that I have seen online that do exist are, well, butt ugly. I usually try and find glasses that are wide and then have them altered at the store.

The nose pads are an absolute must if you have an East Asian nose bridge! It's also a good idea to go to an Asian optician place as they're more likely to have styles to suit flatter features.
