@sadvik, thanks for your appreciation. Yes you can use RO water for face wash but remember that we must use water judiciously knowing the scarcity. About the water filter you asked, yes it is good but only for 3 to 6 months depending upon how hard the water is. Though it cannot be completed to a water softener but still it's good to have if you don't have other options for any reason.

@Vaibhav Patil, Installaing only water softener will prevent lime scale from forming but physical impurities and other dissolved impurities & chemicals still are present in water which impact smell , colour & taste and presence of dust. @aisha, bathroom water softener is the best and better option compared to a shower filter but if you can't get one bathroom softener then the shower filter is better than using direct hard water. Shower filters are temporary solutions and lasts for a few months and then you have to change the cartridges. Also shower filters can't give the kind of results bathroom softener gives as it works on ion exchange technology.

But my another query is since the softner would be connected to only geyser, so while bathing with hot water we definitely have to mix with with cold water (another tap which isn’t connected to the softner) so now the water is a mix of both hard and soft water. How can we fix this thing? Coz the entire purpose of using water softner is just gone

@Sanjeev Tr, Water over 500 ppm needs to be purified with an RO machine before use for human consumption. The TDS of your water is at the border levels and may change with seasons or you may notice an increase in TDS if the population of your neighborhood increases & water level goes down. Hence its recommended you use an RO . Also your Hardness levels (CaCO3) are high & will cause lime scale damages as shown in video. Its recommended you also use a Water Softener or Water Conditioners for your utility water. One of them is Water with high content of soluble minerals. @HeathenS, If you have tested your water in a water testing lab and you are sure that there is Iron in your borewell water, then an Iron Removal filter has to be installed. There is a specialised media for removal of Iron that has to be used. This filter can be placed in-line after your Sump/Underground water tank and before the water enters the over head tank. It should not be placed in your borewell motor line as that will spoil your bore motor. To understand what quality / grade of Iron removal media to use and how much quantity will be needed, etc, you can reach the consultants at India Water Systems on +91 8790004422 and they will advice you.

@rollsroyce, sorry for the late response. I just noticed your comment. Anti scale conditioner such as Nitipure from India Water Systems is very effective as the best quality metals are used to get the desired result. If you do not wish to use hard Water softener for reasons such as recurring costs and maintenance then indeed nitipure anti scale conditioner does the trick.

@Shuaib Cherukunnon, ideally, water should be soft for bathing, and soft water is ideally in the range of 0 - 75 ppm. Between 75 - 150 ppm, water is slightly hard. Between 150 - 300 ppm, water is hard, and over 300 ppm water is considered to be very hard.

I tried to get it from local vendors however, they probably don't know about it and recommend me to go for first conventional softening plant. My problem is high contamination of sand/dust and hardness. Kindly advice.

@@rmamazia is it limited to sand dust and sediment or any other pollutants were found? Do you know how much is the water hardness or TDS? If no then get it tested. That should be the first step towards finding a right hard water solution.

@@rmamazia That means water is hard but not very hard so at the moment you can get a simple dust / sediment filter installed that will take care of physical impurities and then you can install a water conditioner separately and that will solve hard water problem permanently.

@Reddy Pranith, that's a good question. This is utility water treated for Limescale problem caused due to excess of Calcium content in water. If you want to further convert it into driking water then you will need a RO purifier over it. @Jitendra Kumar, No it is not suitable because hard water softners / Conditioners work only on lime scale. For drinking water you need RO that kills bacteria and removes other impurities too. However one major issue with RO is that it removes both good minerals and impurities. It cannot distinguish between good and bad.
