You forgot the most important thing about the cobalt card. 5X on groceries!! You can get 5 flights instead of 1 while using your Td card

Prince of travel is the best at showing people how to utilize your cards.

I have the platinum American express & it's great because there's a bypass line in Toronto Pearson for security (those lines have been insanely long since the pandemic) & free lounge access! It does come with a hefty annual fee, but able to get it down as a 2nd card from business 😄

Good choice guys! Another important note why I love TD credit cards is they will waive the annual fee if you leave the minimum requirement of funds in your chequing account.

I think that's a roundabout trick though, because @ 5% interest rate, you're losing $200 for the $4000 you're required to keep in the account. I guess there's a fair argument that it comes with an unlimited chequing account which you may need anyway + $16.95 for temporarily tapping into the $4k could be a reasonable borrowing option vs triggering a line of credit.

I use the same TD Visa. The insurance benefits are good, as well as the free checked baggage. I like to hold only 1 credit card because it is a lot less hassle. I pay it off every two weeks on payday. You'll probably find that your SQM will expire before you hit the first status level since you don't travel a lot.

As someone who had an AMEX, almost all stores in Canada have stopped taking them. It wasn't a travel card, but a points card, and when I closed the account, I was able to purchase an item from the store, BUT any leftover points went to waste. Unless you're a frequent flyer, a cash back card where you can pick which categories earn the most back just makes the most sense. It means you earn on all purchases rather than only travel, plus no worrying about having a handful of credit cards you have to keep track of.

Im finding more small businesses are accepting it 1 month they don’t Accept it and the nxt month they do slowly coming around.

Yeah, I can count on one hand the places I have come across that don’t take Amex, and those places are usually just debit and cash. I’m talking super small business like kiosks or pop up shots during the holidays. I think the exeptance has jumped up dramatically (if Canada fire sure) over the last few years. Loblaws (except shoppers they take Amex) and Arby’s are the only places where I live that don’t take it.

I've had the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite since 2022. When I signed up though they waived the fee in the first year. I'm looking at switching to the CIBC Aeroplan Visa Infinite right before the fee hits next year to get the sign up bonus. Oh and btw back in October, the random guy on the bike who came back to say hi to you guys was me haha. Great to run into yall IRL!

Hey! Love this. I was just curious how you would decide, for example, what purchases you should make on a neo-financial cash-back card vs an American express cobalt card? Let me know if you have any tips.

I have the AMEX Cobalt paired with PC Mastercard World Elite. Since AMEX is not accepted at Loblaws and COSTCO, I use my PC MC World Elite there. Great Combo 👌🏼

Canceling credit card doesn’t necessary hurt your credit score your payment history and your credit utilization is more important and also your income closed credit cards stay in your report for 10 years

This is the break down - Payment history: ~35% Used credit vs. available credit: ~30% Credit history: ~15% Public Records: ~10% Inquiries: ~10% Closing a credit card would fall under credit history, which is about 15% of your credit score. 😊

I have a the avion platinum and cibc I like the insurance that comes with it. At the time were the one offering the biggest sign up bonus

That’s awesome! Do they let you transfer points to something like Aeroplan? 😊 Also, we rented a car a couple months ago in Spain, so it would’ve been great to have a card with solid travel & rental car insurance.

@@stephandden no they do not unfortunately but that a very good question I wonder once book if I can call air canada and let them know I’m on an air canada flight Another thing I noticed I get cheaper flight through google flight than going through any bank

Cobalt also is 5x on groceries not just restaurants

If I have a joint account with my wife, will we each be able to sign up for a TD credit card and get the annual fee waived (say I get the cash back visa infinite and she gets the aeroplan visa infinite?)

You forgot French Canada 🇨🇦 Desjardins Visa Infinite Privilege credit card 💳 give you 🆓 60 days per each trip ✈️ travel insurance for any girl friend or boyfriend living within the same address 🙄.
