    Hi there! I really enjoyed watching your video. I have the same car and engine and I usually do the service of my other cars.. But since this one has the plastic it gets a little bit more time consuming having to jack it up to remove the protection underneath. So I bought a oil draining pump and I'm going to try it out in this model since I don't need to get under it to reach the oil filter, in my opinion it will be more tidy and fast instead of risking to damage the oil pan underneath due to over tighten the plug... What do you think? Is it better doing the old way, removing the plug or using an oil pump to suction all the oil through the dipstick?

  • @YZJB

    @YZJB

    7 жыл бұрын

    +notme691 Hi, thanks for taking the time to comment and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I agree that removing the plastic protection under the engine is time consuming and annoying and if I had one of those suction pumps, I would totally use it. I even think many VW dealers use suction pumps instead of dropping the plastic belly pan for every oil change. Hope that answers your question.

  • @notme691

    @notme691

    alexaescht amazing, thanks! the vw dealer in portugal it costs 300€ just for the oil and filter, and on a trusted mechanic it costs 110€ for the same job, but i still can buy oil(castrol 5w30 edgeLL) + oil filter(mahle) costs 44.50€ so ill just start doing the maintenance myself. the electric pump was 19.90€ so im all good! i know what is the exact type of oil it gets and im sure the filter is changed... i do service on my vw every 20.000km thanks and keep up the good work :)

  • @YZJB

    @YZJB

    7 жыл бұрын

    +notme691 Excellent. Doing it yourself is always better (as long as you know what to do) because you know exactly what oil and filter are going in. I would recommend changing the oil more often than 20,000km; the recommended interval here in Australia is 15,000km but I still think that is too long. I service my cars every 10,000km.

  • @notme691

    @notme691

    alexaescht well, on other cars i do every year or 10.000km, but since this is claimed to be oil for 30.000km i do it every 20.000km... despite the oil being this good do you still recommend every 15.000km? i drive 25.000 to 30.000 each year btw

  • @YZJB

    @YZJB

    7 жыл бұрын

    +notme691 Because you do a lot of km per year, it is probably ok to change the oil at 20,000km. If it was my car, I would change it at 15,000km but I am sure it will be fine pushing it to 20,000km considering you travel long distances each year.

    I'm curious why you've added a can of friction reducer which will undermine the job of the oil's additive package. Why didn't you also use Liqui Moly oil? I presume the oil is 507.00 with it being a CR engine? Mann and Hengst filters are OE for VW, recent purchases suggest to me that Hengst are slightly better made. I'd suggest packing the ratchet handle with grease, its sounds like its running dry.

  • @YZJB

    @YZJB

    Mos2 was added because I wanted to try it. I didn’t use a Liqui Moly oil because it’s a ridiculous price in Australia (over $100 for 5L) Yes I used a certified 504/507 oil. OE oil filter for this engine is Mahle. Ratchet was an old tool laying around; I’ve since acquired better tools. Thanks for watching

    +Vikas Vijaya Kumar VW 507 is a newer specification that is compatible with cars requiring VW 505.01. The 5w30 507.00 grade is suitable for ambient temperatures up to 60 degrees C
