How to Change the Blade on a Woodland Mills Portable Sawmill
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Today I take you though how I change the blade on a Woodland Mills Portable Sawmill using my Woodland Mills HM130 and a brand new blade as sold on the Woodland Mills website. The steps that I'm taking in this video has allowed me to prolong the life of the blades I"m using and keep things running smoothly. It's be a long time since I've had a blade jump off the wheels on my Woodland Mills Hm130 and some of the things I'm showing you in this video have helped me to keep it that way. If you've had Woodland Mills sawmill blades come off before, you know the headache of having to put on a new one if you're not familiar with the process. Today I take that headache out of this task and show you just how quick you can replace a blade so you can spend more time sawing and less time cussing. Happy sawing folks!

Hi Sandy, very helpful video. An old mechanic once told me to alway’s “unload” your torque wrench due to the spring weakening. Kinda like taking the tension off the blade on your saw. Just for your info. Thank’s for all of your video’s. Dan

Thanks DR. Happy sawing
Hey buddy how are ya? Thanks for showing us the deal on blade changes. There is a young fella that runs a 130 and I think he runs the blades tell they break then puts a new one on. I guess trying to get every bit of use out of them? I was thinking about the sharpener they sell set up and it goes by its self I like that. Can keep sawing while the blades are sharpening. But it’s like 600 bucks. Thanks as always for what you do. I’m always waiting for the next video. Have a great day and God bless you and yours.

Yeah you’re right there about the cost, bit scary at 600. I probably should buy a sharpener at some point but maybe I’ll have to crunch the numbers again to see if it’s worth it . Hope all is well with you

Sawing with Sandy 600 almost buys 3 boxes of blades. That’s a lot of trees to cut.
Good video. My blades don't go on that easy on my hm122. Very tight goin on even with no tension.

Is that right eh. I’ve not tried any other machines. I may have just gotten lucky here
Good day Sandy. Good tips and demo. Did you ever look into making your own bandsaw blade sharpening? It’s a thought I been thinking of sense you showed your chain sharpener. I don’t think it would be easy but I’m pretty sure you could do it. It might not be Worth your time. Have a great week

That did remind me that I should look into that. Not sure if I could make my chainsaw sharpener do double duty but worth trying as the sharpeners are quite expensive as you probably know.
Great video... Thank you. Do you ever have to align the flywheels? If so, is it difficult? Michael from Alberta

The non-drive wheel is relatively easy to adjust. In the video I made a slight adjustment to it . The drive wheel is a bit more trick I find
And friend of mine bought a woodland mill. When you loosen the blade tension handle the blade wheel dosen't move enough to put the new blade on. Every time he has to loosen all the ailment bolts. I had a woodmizer same concept. Something is right with his. Any help would be appreciated.

From time to time the band wheel closest to the t handle needs a little bump with your hand after you loosen the tension in order for the bandwheel to move enough to give room for a new blade to be installed
You've convinced me to pick up a hm126 for the homestead partner. What size and material base would you recommend?

The 126 sure is a nice mill. My mill paid for itself on the first building build. My base isn’t that great right now so I’m likely going to find two large beams either steel or wood to lay my mill on. That way I’m not having to constantly re level each adjustable leg on the mill, I just have to level the big beams. Thanks for watching
Is a smudge a Canadian metric thing? In the US😁 its a smidge.

You’re probably right
Why not raise the cutting head to a more comfortable height for blade changing. Try using a small scraper instead of the screwdriver to clean the wheel belts.
