Changing a Woodland Mills Portable Sawmill Blade

If you're into sawing wood, you'll surely be having to change blades on your portable sawmill. Today I"m going to show you how I change a blade on my Woodland Mills HM130 portable sawmill using some basic know-how and two simple tools. If you're wondering why your blade keeps jumping off your band wheels, pay special attention to this video as I show you how I keep this from happening to me. Before long you'll be changing blades as fast as I am with the thought of the blade jumping off being nothing but a distant memory. If there's something that bothers me the most while sawing logs, it's when the blade jumps off the bandwheels. The learning-curve was steep when I was trying to figure out why my blades kept jumping off and but after learning this technique, my blades don't budge. Happy sawing everyone!

Those hobby mill are nothing like the heavy duty sawmills built to work. Mine is all hydraulic and the tentioner is hydraulic. Also the blade is 222" long. In 10 years I have only adjusted the wheel alignment once and we use it every and have milled tens of thousands of BF of lumber.

Why check the blade alignment before spining the wheels, put the blade on both wheels, tighten the handle a few turns, then spin wheels, check for blade alignment behind the wheel, if ok tighten to spec and spin again to check alignment, just saying.

If you position the blade where it should be it is more likely that you will notice the blade beginning to come off the band wheels before it actually does. One turn of the bad can cause the blade to come off of misaligned on my experience

Just put it on so its on both wheels, tighten a bit, then spin, waste of time to check before spinning.

Turn bolt in blade moves in. Turn bolt out blade moves out. I wish their new quick change system was adaptable to our mills. It is not. I checked.
