That air filter design only works on models 2014 forward.

Is there any reason why the oil from the air filter would be dripping out?

Mine is 2013 ....it is the last model where the YZ450 changed a lot of things with the bike such as: Electric start instead of kick starter Air filter is this design as this is 2014 onwards. So this video is for YZ450F Air filter cleaning onwards.

I recently bought a 2013 yz450f and I was wondering, is there two air filters? Mine came with the factory high flow ribbed air filter, and that was it. But in another video it shows a 2nd foam air filter on top of the ribbed one. Is that how it's supposed to be? Is mine missing the foam one? or am I just dumb?

What year is this bike, and what brand of plastics are on the bike? That air box set up looks so much more simpler than the one I have on my 18 yz250f

The bike in this video is a 2018 with stock plastics.

can add this plastic system or one similar to previous year model bikes by purchasing the Cycra powerflo plastics. I did for my 2016.

Hey, so I'm just putting a new air filter in (brand new) and I'm wondering if I just need to put air filter oil on it and just put it in. I'm new to owning a dirtbike

Yes, if your new air filter is not preoiled, you will need to oil it. That process starts at 1:58 in this video.

Is there not a rubber/plastic grommet or seal and guide that is supposed to go into the filter hole that the cage will insert into?

Yes, on some bikes the filter will have a grommet in the center hole. This will come with the new filter.

@@rmatvmc Thanks for you reply. I ordered 2 each of filter: GYTR AIR FILTER BR9-E41C0-V0-00 for a 2022YZ250FX. Neither one have a center hole or grommet. Do I just poke a hole in the filter and not worry about the grommet?

Thanks Charles. I was mistaken. There is a small hole, very small with no seal/guide (or grommet as I’ve heard others call it). It appears that the seal and guide are not required? Is this a concern for dirt to move into throttle body, or am I over thinking it?

At about 2:37 in this video, I just noticed there isn’t a seal/guide in the filter. I would have to suspect as long as proper oiling is applied, the will will suffice? Btw, thanks for all the follow up. Appreciate it very much.

@@fisherjay8912 technically 19 and newer. Even The 15-18 filter cover is a little different and has a wing nut holding the air filter on once the cover is removed. The concept is still the same though. Pull filter, clean, oil, re-install

Its b.s. I have a 2019 yz450f and what I really hate is the air box design and air filter. Dirt is being sucked straight past the air filter and right into the throttle body and into the engine. Good way to scrub your piston. Yamaha needs to have a recall for this, bull shit. If you have this design air box on your yami i highly recomend pulling the screen and looking down at your throttle body with a flash light. I guarantee you will have alot of dirt getting by and into your motor. And I have 3 air filters and change mine out every single ride.

Nate B-RunS it’s mainly the hole that in the hole in middle of the stock air filter where the peg goes in, I know this guy had the same problem with his until he picked up a air filter that has a rubber grommet for the peg to go through (tightly) and he hasn’t seen any dirt inside since.
