How to Change Replace Batteries Razor e200 Scooter / Not Charging / Detailed Instructions

In this video I give instructions on how to replace the batteries. Here are the parts/tools needed to repair your razor e200 scooter:
Female F2 Connectors*: amzn.to/2rMNme0
You can get 2 of these: SLA 12V 9AHR Batteries* (different brand than the ones in the video but highly rated): amzn.to/2s1O7Qm
Highly rated wire strippers (mine in the video are old and hard to find): amzn.to/2rzhXuF
Recommended Hex (allen) wrench set* (comes with english and metric): amzn.to/2qIepTJ
If your scooter is not charging or you aren't getting the same power out of your scooter anymore, chances are that you need to replace the batteries. This is a pretty straightforward process. There are lots of battery manufacturers. Make sure you get (2) 12V 9AH batteries with F2 connectors and the connectors themselves. (I bought my 2 batteries from batteryshark.com). If you get a different batteries, make sure to note if they have F1 or F2 style connectors (or some other style).
Remember to disconnect the power and never let the positive and negative leads on the same battery touch each other (short circuit).

Thanks. Nice demo. Also, I went by a local Batteries Plus store and they wanted $90 for two 12V 9AHR batteries so I ordered from the link you provided. Even with shipping cost, that saved me over $50. Also, I went down to Homedepot and picked up some different connectors and they work perfectly, "AMP Female Disconnects" 12 - 10 guage. A pack of them was only $2.50.

Great video thanks! Just out of curiosity why do the connectors need to be replaced? Are the original connectors not reusable (haven't taken the cover off of mine yet to see)?

Is it ok to use 2 12 volt 10mah batteries instead of 9mah?

  • @FrugalRepair

    @FrugalRepair

    5 жыл бұрын

The main thing you need is a total of 24v. The mah number is the capacity of the battery so yes, those two batteries would be fine. The next thing to consider is the size, will they fit ok inside the scooter case or is there a plan to mount them elsewhere? Also, I’m assuming you’re talking about SLA batteries.

@@vyws The scooter just wants to see 24v so the connectors don't matter. Most of the batteries for this scooter are F2 connectors so you'd need to get batteries with an F1 (male) connector if you are buying F1 female connectors. I only have a link in the description to F2 connectors, maybe you can find F1 on amazon or maybe on ebay,

There are (2) 12v batteries in series so it charges with a 24v charger.

kibub kibub Do you mean amp-hour? Like 12ah. That is for the capacity of the battery. I don't think you mean amps.

Yes 12ah. The original razor battery its 7ah and you suggested to replace with 9ah and I say what about 12ah? will that works too?

  • @FrugalRepair

You need a 24v power source to run the motor (in this case it means (2) 12v batteries wired in series). You also want the batteries to fit inside the chassis. Two 12ah batteries will big too large to fit naturally. So you can technically get (2) 12v 12ah batteries and the scooter would work fine, but the issue is, where do the batteries go if they don't fit in the chassis compartment?

Got you, I think I can find the 12ah same size as the original 7ah (If ill find ill send you link). Do you know a way to test the batteries? My son scooter drain after 5 min work after full charge, I removed the batteries and I fully charged them than i checked the voltage and its show 13.6V and 13.4V that i thimk its normal but i know the batteries have problem, is there a way to check?

Sounds good. The batteries I installed (and the links in the description) are 9ah capacity and they fit fine. You can probably get a 7ah one for a little cheaper but it seems that both the 7ah and the 9ah batteries are the same dimensions. So why not get the higher capacity? The battery is probably bad. One of my SLA batteries was doing the same thing. I am pretty sure that it went bad because I left it out in the freezing cold (it was a fairly new battery). To get the most life out of them keep them from freezing and keep them charged. To test them, I don't know a great method beyond what you have done by measuring the voltage. There are ways to put a load (like a light bulb) on there and get an idea about the capacity but even if you know the capacity, I don't think you can fix the battery.

  • @FrugalRepair

The stock motor is a 24v motor so you need 24v coming from the batteries. So (2) 12v in series or one 24v battery. The "ah" in 12ah refers to the batteries capacity. It means amp-hours.
